Congratulations to new member Doug Rowles, aka DRR85SS for our latest Featured SS.

Doug’s 1985 Monte Carlo SS retains its numbers matching engine and transmission with only 58,000 original miles. It’s always been a garage-kept North Carolina car with no rust or accidents. Doug bought this SS in 2000 with 42,000 miles in completely original condition. The original stripes were a little faded and removed. The only modifications to this SS are Cragar Street Star wheels, a 3-inch cowl hood, lowering springs and shocks, Edelbrock TES headers, and a couple dress up items under the hood. Doug and his 17 year old son Zack just finished a 4-month restoration under the hood including all new seals & gaskets, oil/fuel/water/air pumps, timing chain & gears, headers, A/C upgrades, paint, and complete tune up. Doug and Zack also replaced all axle & wheel bearings and seals, rear wheel cylinders and brakes at all four corners. Zack enjoys driving the old SS to school to show off to his auto shop class where he’s currently refinishing the frame rails to make the bottom of the car look as good as the rest.

Here are some full size pictures of Doug and Zack's 85 SS:

Congrats Doug and Zack!

Thanks for the compliments guys. I used Intrax Lowering Springs in the front and rear. The springs are a 2-inch drop and I cut a little more than half a turn off the front springs (about ¾-inch). The wheels are 15x8-inch Cragars. Front tires are P235/60R15. Rear are P255/60R15.

New Magnaflow cat and Flowmaster cat-back system (2 1/2-inch mandrel and Super 44's) going on this weekend. Can't wait to hear it!

Got them from Summit back in 2006. I checked their website and they no longer carry them for the G-body.

I Love the DECALS!!! Red and white mix is something I haven't seen before. Could you tell us your source and price? I am getting ready to paint my 83.
