We've created a new private forum here on the Monte Carlo SS Message Board specifically for the ladies: "SS Ladies' Forum". It is meant to be a place for the ladies to post questions comfortably. Access is limited to all ladies, and only a select few guys on MonteCarloSS.com. Please keep on topic...this forum is intended to help the ladies with their Monte's, whether they are doing the work themselves or not.

We've also decided to open this, and only this forum up to all G-Bodies, not just the Monte Carlo SS. So any G-Body owning lady is welcome to join in.

The Forum is moderated by Terri, aka NaughtySS. She has not been around much here on the Message Board, but is a regular in the Monte Carlo Chat Channel. Contact the Webmaster or NaughtySS@MonteCarloSS.com if you (an SS Lady) would like access to this forum.

We're hopeing this forum can sustain itself with posts/replies. It's an experiment at this point to see if there is interest from the girls side.

I really dont see the need for this forum. I think the current environment is suitable for all and allows MCSS owners to speak openly about almost anything. By having this forum your minimizing the amount of members that could possibly help out with questions and also taking away posts from others that many members would find interesting to read. No doubt about it, this site is made up of mostly men, but i dont think you should have to set up a seperate private forum just for women. Why would any of them be embarrassed to ask a question? I just read a post from a guy that didnt know how to put valve cover gaskets on his car....point is....the skill level of the current members is broad and everyone seems to respect each other. I never heard of anyone name calling or making fun of another person because of a question. Lets keep it open like it always has been a forget about creating these secretive rooms. Thank you (this wasnt meant to offend anyone and BTW i asked the same questions when i first changed my valve cover gaskets).

I think I might have to agree with felixx4. I understand wanting to welcome everyone, and trying to make accomodations for everyone, including female car buffs in a land of a much larger number of males. However, I don't see why everybody, guy and girl, can't communicate in the same place. It even sounds a little degrading. If you really want to welcome female SS (and other G-body) owners to this Message Board, greet them with an offer of equality (since, after all, if you have an SS, we're of the same breed anyway ). This just seems like coddling to me. But hey-- I'm not a lady! So, when it all comes down to it, if that's what the ladies here want, then I guess its their approval that counts.

Just my opinion, and I meant no offense to anyone. I just don't think your gender should make any difference when you're on this board.

No offense intended? Hmmm...and I quote:"sounds a little degrading" and let's not forget:"This just seems like coddling to me."

Look...the ladies I have talked to have told me that they have been hesitant to post in the normal forums, and are happy with the idea of having this one. If we want it this way...leave us alone. The way this idea came about is from talking to other ladies here and finding that we all have dealt with "rotten apples" here. I personally have dealt with name calling...and being made fun of for my questions.

And it isn't a secret forum...it's right there where everyone can see it...we are just limiting the access to those who express a genuine interest in this forum.

Hey now, I really didn't mean any offense! When I said it sounded a little degrading, I wasn't talking about it being degrading to me! I thought it sounded degrading to the ladies here! I really am sorry if that still sounds offensive. I didn't know that the female board members faced any kind of discrimination on these bulletin boards, so I guess I just didn't realize the need for such a forum. If it really is that hard for you to post like "the rest of us guys" do, then I suppose the forum is needed after all. I just wasn't aware that things were that bad, and I apologize. I was only going from my personal feelings, because it doesn't make a damn difference to me what sex you are so long as you have an interest in these cars.

Good luck, then, ladies.

I personally think that it's great to have a place where women can ask their questions. My wife just completed troubleshooting my ignition but hates how condesending men get when/if she ever has to ask a question. I get stupid and pull that sometimes also trying I guess to show "how much I do know". Unfortunately we have alot of "know more than you" types running around out here.

I congratulate this web site for getting this going as I think as word spreads it will help get those women hot rodders more interested in this hobby/way of life. Hopefully we'll all get something out of the bigger audience.

I just want to thank Thrasher for his awesome reply, and SShybrid for his apology

I hope everyone can be supportive, and encourage any Monte Ladies they know to use it.

I merely find it ridiculous that the locked out forum for women only is the only one able to bring up any of the g-bodies. Bringing up one of the other g-bodies in the message board thus far has been a violation. But now the new forum open to women only allows questions, and discussions about non-montes. I think that if i have to rephrase my question to be directed toward a monte instead of my beloved malibu, so should they

I do agree with MonteSS-Driver on the information. Is there anyway that everyone can see what is going on, but only the women can post to it? Besides, bulletin boards are supposed to be someplace to go to seek out unknown answers to our questions. Very hard to do when it is locked away from us.

Im all for the new forum. I think ladies sometimes have a hard time asking questions in front of mostly guys in the fear that they will be snuffed off by people who think women should stay in the make-up message board and not on a Monte board. I do though however think it should be open to everyone, just make strict rules that no one can cut the women down or make them feel bad for asking a question or something.

Great idea! I've got so much wrong with my car, I can't decide where to start with the questions sometimes

I am not and may never be TRULY mechanically inclined, but among the ridiculous things mechanics have pulled on me over the years is when I was presented with an estimate for NINE HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR BRAKES I think this clearly illustrates the need for women to be as informed as possible when purchasing/repairing their cars.

This problem was corrected by replacing the master cylinder, $70. If I had not been smart enough to walk out, they would have taken a very large chunk of my money. I did not have to do anything further to my brakes for another year and never did anything besides normal maintenance (no more than $200) to that car for brakes for the 6 more years I owned it.

If this is what it takes for women to be able to ask reasonable questions and get helpful answers from decent people without being subject to abuse JUST because they are women, I hope it works out and I'll try to help out any way I can.

Okay so I really thought that this would have died out. Guys read some of our old postings and especially the locked out ones. We can't even play by the rules on bashing and seem to get our kicks by grilling GNs,Mustangs, and "ricers". A locked out Women only area is the only way to go until everyone grows up. If you're so curious to see what the women are talking about e-mail them.

I think that I will recommend that my wife sign up even though she's a 67-69 Camaro fan.
