Two users have been banned for recent activities.
LS1ownzYOU has been on probation since August 9th, 2005 with a long history of insighting trouble on the board. In the recent drug thread he showed back up with his same troll methods and immature comments. He is no longer welcome here and is permanently banned from the site.
88silverLS (previously "88 All-stock V8 305HO") snuck back into the site after having been banned on February 17th, 2004 for general immature behavior. He hasn't changed his ways and continues to show immature behavior as shown in the recent drug thread. He too is still not welcome here and has been rebanned permanently.
Everyone knows this community has pretty high standards of conduct. The cornerstone value here is mutual respect between members. As such, our expectations for the maturity level and demeanor of each member are obvious. We hold each member solely responsible for their own actions and each is held accountable when necessary. Luckly we haven't had to intervene much with punitive action because newbies see the community interacting at a high maturity level and conform. However, when someone doesn't get the message repeatedly, we use suspensions, probations and bannishment to correct behavior and ultimately protect the community.
We (the mods and I) never like having to ban someone, let alone two at the same time. Someone always will see this kind of action as heavy handed. But we are the trustees of this community, and it's our responsibility to uphold the values and vision that has made this community strong, governed by the rules and guidelines we've all agreed to.
We've had a few incidents recently where the bounds of our community expectations have been tested. You can expect the moderators and I to continue providing guidance where needed, and impose sanctions when our guidance isn't followed.
I want to thank the members of this community who have made this a great place to visit by embracing our collective vision.
PaulC, your humble Admin

It is a bummer, but what needed done was done. I didn't see the thread, but I trust Paul past any other forum leader in the world. BTW Paul, the correct term would be "banninated". edit: I just have to add that, in fact, ls1ownzyou imo always fit the typical ls1 stereotype. Truthfully thinks they are greater than all, has only 5 minutes of ls1tech knowledge to go on, and doesn't even work on the car himself, and being a spoiled 17 year old to top it off.. if I"m not mistaken. It's crap like that which REALLY honestly is why I'm selling my camaro. I'm sick of that ls1 label. and this isn't to offend anyone in any way, I've always had these thoughts, but after reading that drugs thread, I just had to issue my 'statement' if you will. nobody hate on me with their ls1's, okay? damn I need to stop by here more often. ^8l9,384th time I've said that

I know it's not required, . . . . or needed, . . . . or even expected, but I'd like to compliment the Mods on temperance, patience and a sense of humor in their roles. Their 'hand' is even gentler than mine might be in some instances, so I consider when someone gets the boot it's long past the point of being WELL deserved. Other forums I frequent are often on the verge of a free-for-all of feigned hostility and ever-escalating personal slams, so it's gratifying coming here where everyone realizes they better just get up on the right side of the bed and put on their 'respect for others' hat, or just don't post.

Folks, this is one of the main reasons I hang around this board! I know that people respect me as I respect them. We don't always agree on everything, but we agree to disagree and that is that.
I love the fact that the people on this board make everyone feel like they are welcome here and that they are wanted. I feel like we are all family and we all care about each other. I have always been told that this was a "southern thing", but it is not, it must be a "Monte owners thing"!
I would like to thank Maxwell(realsurfer88) for doing the RIGHT thing, his parents for teaching him right from wrong, and Mr Paul C. and all moderators for handling the situtation that resulted from this!
I am proud to be member #7936 on this awesome board where people know right from wrong and where respect is given and respect is recieved from the members!!

Thanks for the kind words Bob, as I am sure most of you know this site is run 100% on donations alone and all of the admin/moderator staff are volunteers. I consider myself extremely lucky to have been chosen to serve the community... Its our commitment to the monte, and to each other as a group that makes this community what it is... It saddens me that both of those that were banned actually owned a monte and there are some members here that give so much to the community that would dearly love to own one but haven't been able to purchase a monte yet...

I support Paul's decisions fully; I posted in the thread in question, but I feel that I presented my points and opinions in a respectful and appropriate way. I agree to disagree. Let's all remember that even when we disagree, we can argue as ADULTS, not little kids with name calling and unfounded statements.

this is why this site is the only one I visit anymore, the mods do a great job of keeping trash talking out of here, and the people who are here are the best people around, and respect other opinions
thanx again guys

It was not their view that got them booted, but their behavior in expressing their view that did. Originally posted by SSuperSSport: I support Paul's decisions fully... Also bear in mind, it was not Paul's decision, but a collective decision of the two admins and rest of the moderators. As has been said, all decisions that come down are of collective moderator/admin decision. This way, all viewpoints can be discussed and debated, instead of having one dominate the direction. Paul just happens to be the eloquent voice of the Board of Directors here

Sorry to see this type of behavior lead to this, but you guys made the right choise. As a stupid mechanic with a shop that employes 18 people I was ready to jump in the thread. Considering that I have a bastard Avanti with a SS chassis I have been welcomed here more than some of the Avanti sites I visit. Just yesterday we had a thread on one of the Yahoo sites about what makes a good site, I used this site as one to visit that really has their act together. Keep up the good work!

Paul just happens to be the eloquent voice of the Board of Directors here It's one reason that it takes us a little while to deal with certain members who are habitually breaking the rules... in essence the offenders actions are reviewed by the mods/admins and then action is taken accordingly... We discuss as a group and take action as a group in almost all cases.

Not that it matters with respect their membership, but I believe neither even owns a Monte anymore. The previously banned member just got his seized by the police, and the other had his for sale a year or two back - I am assuming it sold sometime. To reiterate what the other mods have stated, it is always a group concensus when such decisions have to be made. Although he doesn't want/like to have to do such things, they do need to be done, and Paul is just the one stuck "announcing" such decisions. That is the reason some things take a little time to deal with - we can't just call an instant meeting or anything If a thread is questionable we typically get others thoughts on it, but when/if it goes too far (which can happen while discussing) we can/do shut it down ASAP before it gets even worse and discuss later. For my further thoughts on the subject, feel free to see my post here: http://www.montecarloss.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=19;t=011306;p=1#000021

LOL GROUP HUG!!!!!!!!!!!! j/k
Hey guys I understand what you mean, although some may take it harsh or pretty strict I mean you guys done it right, I mean what else can you do? If you let it continue, everyone or at least alot more would follow and become a bad place where members like myself would not stand for it and take their info or questions elsewhere.
I totally agree with the actions taken, I mean that's the only way. If a warning does not stop them, then action must be taken, example, probation periods and what not. If that doesn't work then yes there's no other option then to have them banned.
I think it's very very childish to make a new account or whatever just to come back and do the same dumb stuff again lol. Now making another account or whatever to come back, yet be straight that time would be ok IMO, but in a case like that they'd have to be monitored for sure.

I've searched around some, I cant find any evidence LS1ownznothing owned any cars at all. The closest is an autotrader add from a car lot. He crossed me about a year ago and I dived into his AIM profile and LS1ownz (Keith Rosen) says he's majoring in Criminal Justice!!! He also thinks he's all "Gangsta" or something. Nothing worse than a "Malibu's Most Wanted" type. (actually a funny movie W/Jaime Kennedy) I guess smokin' weed makes you too lazy to move your freakin' Monte before the city takes it even though it's right out front like 88silverLS did!!!! GEEZ!
