Once again, we've upgraded to the latest and greatest version of the Message Board Software. This time.. some long awaited and exciting new features are included.
The biggest change is the ability for each member to customize the date and time format they see, including the time zone. So you folks on the east coast won't have to deal with the 3 hour difference in the post times since the server is on the west coast. To customize your date/time setting, go to your profile. It should be self explainitory.
Next, we now have "sticky topics". These are thread that can stay at the top of the forum list, regardless of whether or not they have been replied to. This feature is only for Admin/Moderators. We'll use it sparingly.
The PM notify message at the top of the screen has been formalized into this release... so I don't have to hack in the code any more. I believe the implementation is the same or better.
There are some other feature upgrades.. mostly stuff in the background or items we won't be implementing.
As always, let me know of any quirks / errors observed.
Enjoy. PaulC

Great updates Paul, but I ran into one problem that must have came along with the new software. I tried to update my time zone, and when I clicked "Update Profile", I got this message: "FYI Your signature is too long. You may have no more than 250 characters in your signature. You currently have 387 characters. Please use your browser's back button to return." My signature is way over the limit only because of the code for the picture & page links. Is there a way to eliminate this restriction, or perhaps only count final "viewable" characters (not coded characters)?

Wooohooo! You can finally "sticky" the "What size of tires..." question to the top, to help cut down on it's reposts... and maybe even reduce how that every time Black Dog, Shaft, and other movies with prominent MC use are played, the topics always pop up, and cover the same material!
Once again, great work Paul!

Hmm.. another good catch. I didn't consider the link codes. I've opened it up to 500 characters. Let me know if you run into any other quirks.

The date you provided does not seem to be valid. It may be a date in the future or a date that does not exist. Please ensure that you have filled out the form correctly.
ยป Please use your browser's back button to return.
This may be in relatoon to my birthday which I never disclosed but don't remember that ever creating that problem .. oh and another thing
this thing's telling me I have 3 unread PM's and I have none that weren't read

Hmmm... what did you put in for your time change? did you put a negative number by chance?
Not sure about the PM issue.

Steve.. the error is due to the fact you did not enter a birth date. It's now a required field.

The IM feature isn't coming back. It ended up being a processor hog.

I am wondering if there would be any interest in having a 7th Generation Monte Carlo SS conpectual design contest. It would be nice to see what fellow members want to see in the next SS. http://www.gminsidenews.com has a contest for the next Gen. Camaro going. The site is being updated this week, but I think there could be some interested members may that part in something like this. Just my thoughts.
And away we go!!!
