12:00PM PST Wednesday UPDATE
The website server experienced a hiccup of some sort yesterday. I discovered the message board not responding late last night. I worked through the night with the server host to try to figure out the problem. Had to finally give up at 4 AM to get some sleep. At this point I'm still not sure if it was a hardware, software or virus that took the site down. At one point I got indications that a the server had been infected with a nasty malware rootkit. To protect those visiting the website, I shut down web access to the entire site.

After many virus scans, and consultation with the host company, I'm confident the site is back up and operational, virus / malware free. Still not sure if that was the issue though.

Please report any strange activity via email.

This is also a good time to remind everyone that not only should you have a robust and constantly updated Anti-Virus program on your computer... you should also be running a robust and constantly updated Anti-Malware program. Malware is much more prevelant these days than viruses. I run a program here called Malwarebytes that I'm very pleased with.

Sorry for the disruption. Hopefully you didn't go through too many withdrawl symptoms.

More issues going on this morning.. Host working the issue. I think we may have found the culprit.

what was it? site still slow loading pages

The slow page load was not the problem.. the site not responding at all was the big issue. Was the apf firewall bad IP log had gotten too large and was throwing constant errors.

Still trying to track down the slow page load issue. I have continued my conversation with the host today to have them look at that issue (again).

Well we had another occurrence the night before last. As a result the host swapped to a different firewall program (APF to CSF). So far so good.
