First off I want to appologize for the 2 day outtage. This was an unexpected event that couldn't be helped.

What happened is our former (as of today) host shut down the site for "abuse of server resources" without warning. Basically, we were using more server resources (CPU / Memory) than we were alotted. We knew we were pushing the limits because of the performance hits, brown-outs and maximum user violations that have plagued us since we joined this host.

For that reason we started looking for a more robust and dedicated server solution. A new host was secured a week or so ago. Since then I slowly started copying static files over from the old to the new server. I was planning on holding off the final switch over (including the message board) until this coming weekend because of a business trip that I am currently on. I didn't want to get into a situation where I had to do server maintenance while I was away.

Well, the host shutting us down threw a wrench in those plans. I have spent the last two days, nearly all waking hours getting the rest of the site copied over, using the limited resources I have at hand here in the hotel. I haven't gotten much sleep in the past 48 hours as a result. The good news is, if you're seeing this message, then you're seeing the new server.

I'm sure there are additional issues to be cleared up. The photoalbum is one area that will probably need further attention. Other areas of the website may also be non-operational. Please report what you find in this thread in the MonteCarloSS.com News Forum.

Again, I'm sorry for the down time. I was planning to make the transition as seemless as possible. The combination of the unannounced shutdown, and my business trip merged to a perfect storm that wiped us out for much longer than what was planned.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.
PaulC

Maybe its just me, but if this is the new server, I am seeing an improvement already. Seems to be loading nice and smooth, quick too!

Paul,
I would like to thank you for your endless dedication to keeping this site up and running. Over the past months with all the server issues a lesser man would have given up by now.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that this is a non-profit site and operates on donations and a small percentage of the sales from the on-line store.
This new server costs almost 4 times more per month then the old one did.
If you enjoy comming to this site for valuable information or to just chat with your friends then please do your part in keeping it running by donating a few dollars or buying some merchandise from the on-line store.
Here is a link to information on ways to donate.
http://www.montecarloss.com/about.html#donations
If you have not purchased anything from the store yet please look around and remember you will be getting some cool stuff for yourself and helping the site at the same time.

I personally like the License Plate Frames.

Lets all show our support now and in the future and remember even a $5 donation helps
.

Paul I would like to thank you also. When I clicked on my shortcut and got that server message i though I was seeing things or that my computer was acting up again. This site is the BEST automotive sight that I have visited to date. There are plenty of them out there. Your dedication to this site is second to none.
