New Signature Guidelines / Rules
One of the new features that the Message Board upgrade opened up was the ability to embed images in your signature script. This is a togglable feature that can be turned on or off at any time by the board administration. I have elected to enable this feature here on MonteCarloSS.com as long as some limitations are observed. If this feature is abused, I will change my mind and turn it off.
I have updated the Monte Carlo SS Message
Board Guidelines and Rules (what you were supposed to read when you registered, and I encourage you to re-read from time to time) with the following passage:
"
SignaturesYou may set up a signature string within your user profile. The signature string will appear at the end of every post that you make, provided you check the appropriate box when submitting the message. As a courtesy to other users (proper netiquette), please limit the size of your signature string to no more than 6 lines. This should be more than enough space. You are also allowed to embed images into your signature using UBB code. Any image within your signature must be limited to no larger than 450x70 in size, must be Monte Carlo SS related and may not be commercial in nature. Users with images that do not meet these specifications, or have overly large signature strings will be requested to modify them. Failure to do so will result in suspension of posting privilages until the requested changes have been made."
If you currently have a signature script established that is over 6 lines in length, please take another look at it and prune it down to a reasonable level. I expect everyone with long signatures to take this task on themselves at this time. I will not make any signature change requests yet, but at some future time, I will email those who continue to use extrodinarly long signatures. As it states above, failure to keep your signature within reason will result in suspension of posting privilages until it is corrected.
I've noticed a trend to push the envelope on signature lengths in the past few months. In some instances, posts being made are smaller than the signatures they carry. All this does is add to the length of time it takes to download messages, and increases the space required on the server to store the contents of the message board. If you want to list every modification you have on your SS, I encourage you to tell us all about it within the "Your SS" forum. The signature should be brief.
To embed an image in your signature, again, it must be limited to no larger than 450x70 in size, must be Monte Carlo SS related, and may not be commercial in nature. Use the UBB code to embed the image. HTML code will not work.
If you have any questions on the signatures topic, please contact me via email.
