Just to let everyone know.. I'm testing some potential hacks to the message board to add some neat features. You may see some stuff appear and disappear. I'll announce the final set of new features when I'm happy with hit. There are some really neat things available as hacks that I hope to incorporate. Stay tuned.

So far, the list of added hacks includes:
1) Quick Reply feature at the bottom of each post.
2) Code to allow a member's signature only once per thread page. (cleans up threads)
3) Code to add the last reply by information in the forum display (on the right)

Still to follow for possible testing: Member List and Calendar

All ideas sound great Paul I like the sig appearing only once per thread (I always forget to do de-select the "show sig" box when making my second post in a thread)

Thanks.. I'm still looking into a few other hacks. The Calendar and Member lists may or may not make the cut. The Instant Message hack unfortuantely is not developed enough for my liking. Maybe in the future.

Anyway.. if you like or dislike one of the new features, please let me know. I need feedback.

I like the quick reply feature ALOT, also the members list is something i asked about awhile back and would be good if you could look up other members by name or user name. (instead of member #, because I can't even remember my own #) What would be the advantages of incorporating chat into the message board?

I'm still evaluating the Member's List hack on another feature. The one problem I have seen and read about with it is on larger boards, it takes an inordinant amount of time to open because it opens up every member file. This could be a performance hit. It's also an extensive hack.. so I want to be sure before I undertake it.

The chat incorporation.. it's really more of an easier way to log onto chat, with a list of users present, and the ability to invite someone who is browsing the board to join chat. So from the board standpoint, it wouldn't change much.. but would enhance the chat channel significantly. I'm still looking into it.

I like the quick reply, as long as you don't want to use any smilies. The one sig per tread also cleans things up very well. I like the improvements!

I do like the quick reply thing, and I think less emoticons is a good thing.

No, this post started back in May. The site has not been down too much that I know of. Over the last 24 hours there has been a problem with the server that the host is looking into that caused very sluggish response. It probably has been repaired by now.

A members list would be cool!
