I'm looking for a 2.5" header back exhaust system with x-pipe with stock exit Monte SS tail pipes. What system fits and works good? Any suggestions?
Thanks, Craig

I bought the Pypes exhaust and found it poorly engineered and ill fitting. Pypes refused to do anything about it so I returned it to Summit for a refund. Do not recommend

If you have some extra coin and like flow master, then I would recommend their kit. I put one of the first ever G-body kits they offered on my old 84 Monte SS. It didn't fit well and gave them info to correct their front pipes. I just installed the same kit on my 86 SS and it fit much better. It's high quality parts: full mandrel bent stainless pipes band clamps for joining sections, X-pipe, Super 44 mufflers, and nice tail pipes to finish it off. http://www.jegs.com/i/Flowmaster/389/817457/10002/-1?parentProductId=

I agree the flowmaster system is a very good fit. I just installed the American Thunder cat back system in my 87 MCSS kit was well thought out even came with stainless steel tips and Super 44's plus all hangers and clamps.

i have the pypes kit. it does not fit well out of the box, you need to make a few cuts in strategic spots in order to make it fit well. i installed everything myself in my driveway, located the cats and mufflers where i wanted them, then took the car to an exhaust shop to finish the welds. i love it. good quality bends, welds are nice and it sounds great. i also like the slash cut on the quarter exit tailpipes, but you wouldn't have to worry about that with bumper exits.

Torque Tech all the way. i have the 3" SS style on my monte with SLP LM1 mufflers. i recommend sectioning the exhaust. install a set of 3" flanges after the X-Pipe so you can drop the center section down incase you need to pull out the trans. makes things so much easier

I installed my Pypes with the Race Pro mufflers and X-pipe with band clamps and it worked out great. Good fit and great sound. Been running that way for years.

Hi' Do you have the stock engine" I am interested in the Pypes Race pro and system, right now i have true dual exhaust, and it time to change. Are you running with 3" inch? Have you ever heard of Gibson MWA?

I see no reason for 3" unless you have a high HP engine. From what I see Pypes offer a 2 1/2" which is more than enough. Just my 2 cents.

I installed it myself in the garage with band clamps. Only thing a shop had to do was set up the two ends that went to my headers. Mine run straight out the back stock style.
