I need help adjusting the TV cable on my monte. My repair manual makes no sense to me. I have the stock TV cable, holley 4160 carb and the holley throttle bracket. and the holley kickdown bracket.
Book says to depress the re-adjust tab and move the slider back through the fitting, away from the throttle body, until it stops against the fitting. Release the re-adjust tab.
Then, open the throttle to the full throttle stop position and then release it. This will automatically adjust the TC cable.

So, I pressed the button and slid the piece back into the fitting (that's being held in place by the bracket). I then let go of the button, and turned the carb throttle linkage all the way open and let go. Is that slide piece suppose to come out some when I have the throttle opened up? Cause mine doesn't. It just sits all the way into the fitting.

did you disconnect the tv cable from the throttle linkage at the start? I don't know if this is a needed step, but I always disconnect the cable from the carb, adjust, then hook the cable back up before turning the throttle.

Did you change the TV cable? Or is it the original you had from before?

Only reason why I ask is that some time ago, when I did a rebuilt on my 200-4R,. when to local Chevy dealer and got myself a brand new cable for 86'MCSS. Then tried adjust the cable but just like yours, nothing came out. Went out for test drive, and found that trans didn't feel right. It didn't shift right. So took off the cable and compare to my old one. Alas. New one is about inch long!

Put the old cable back in, and everything went OK. Went back to the Chevy dealer, but they couldn't give me a refund because I had put the cable on already. Lesson learned.

Does the cable sit in the same position now with the Holley equipment as it did when the factory Quadrajet equipment was installed?

You may need to relocate the TV cable slightly further away from the linkage in order to get the correct tension.

Is the Holley stuff newly or recently installed?

Have you test driven with the adjustment the way it is?

There should be a large metal button push it down and push the cable all the way in towards the button release it. now go in the car and push the accelerator all the way to the floor. The cable should now be set.
