Ok so I found out I have a 345hp ZZZ GM crate motor thanks to a few fellows from this wonderful forum. I am dropping the motor into my Monte this week but I figured while it was out it would be a good time to upgrade a few things. I was thinking a cam, 1.6 roller rockers, and intake manifold but Im no motor genious so i figured i could get some great suggestions here. My Monte will be street/strip "mostly strip" and I am considering a 100-150 shot of Nitrous...I will be running a TH350 trans "havent ordered stall converter yet" I have a GN 8.5" 373 rear with 275/60r15 drag radials in a gutted MonteCarlo so she is gonna move, but while the motors out I would like to upgrade a few things and I am about to make a nice order with Summit once I figure out exactly what I need. Here are the casting #s from the heads too 10088113 also says WJ2 according to my buddy who shined a flashlight through my oil fill cap so if they are wrong its all his fault lol...here is an article on my motor if that helps too GM's ZZZ 350 H.O. crate engine
Over-the-counter factory replacement engines have been available for decades, but when GM Performance Parts released the 350 high-output crate engine--dubbed the ZZZ for its block-stamped manufacturing code--back in 1989, it was not immediately obvious how big an impact the move would have on the speed-parts business. Never before was a purpose-built high-performance engine available with a factory warranty, a move that all of a sudden gave hot rodders a third alternative to freshening a stocker with a few bolt-ons or going the full-blown custom engine route. Originally released as PN 10134338 with aluminum cylinder heads similar to those used on the L98 Corvette engine, a Z28 high-rise dual-plane aluminum intake manifold, hypereutectic 9.8:1 pistons, forged crank and rods, and a single-pattern 235-degree hydraulic camshaft with 0.480-inch lift, the ZZZ was rated at 345 hp. Still available in revised form as the ZZ4, the original ZZZ led the factory charge into the aftermarket engine business and forced independent engine builders big and small to compete with lower-priced crate engines that carried more than a taillight warranty.--Matt King"

Other information says the engine used a part # 10134334 hydraulic roller cam 235*/235* @ 0.050" tappet lift, 0.480"/0.480" theoretical valve lift, ground on 114* lobe separation angle and pressed-pin flat-top hypereutectic pistons.

Like I said im no motor guy,I just never had the opportunity to open up and upgrade any of my motors so this would be a great way to learn ya know....thanks for all the help

.. Start off with a set of 1 5/8" primary tube headers, IceMan lightweight dual exhaust tranny support crossmember, dual 2 1/2" - 3" pipes, maybe an X-over, free flowing mufflers... so you won't lose power to a stock exhaust system...

.. You could go a couple routes on the engine. If you do indeed have the original 235/235 cam that wants to make 435 - 450 HP and is too big for the stock heads that peter out at 375-385 HP, then you could: 1. drop down to a mild GM roller 'Hot Cam' around 218/226 or other brand of similar size or smaller cam... and/or upgrade the heads with some serious porting, combustion chamber mild re-shaping, even bigger valves to match the big 235/235 cam...

.. Torque converter around 3500 stall with the 235/235 cam... 2500 - 3000 stall with a smaller cam...

GM part #12480002

this is the HOT cam kit that comes with the HOT cam (.525 lift intake and exhaust), Crane 1.6 roller rocker arms, LT4 valve springs with matching retainers and keepers, and about a dozen other small parts.
this should get you up close to 400hp and a similar amount of torque with the Corvette L98 heads on the ZZZ, which will jump up to 430hp if you ever upgrade to a set of Fastburn heads.

thanks guys I just decided to leave the motor alone for the most part until the day come's I go big with it. For now I'l be rocking a 650cfm carb, headers/2.5" exhaust/Thrush mufflers/dumps...th350 trans/shift kit/2300 stall converter/GN rear/342 gears/Mickey Thompson drag radials and a few other goodies nothing too crazy once my order from Summit gets here I'l start putting my Monte togther. Once it starts getting warmer I might pull the motor back out and go crazy with it. While its being built I'l just rock a stock SBC 350 with a cam and 100-150 shot of spray to entertain myself
