Well, I'm back at it for awhile starting today. Life's been very busy and no one wants to hear my sad story , we've all got one. I started out today by relocating my battery. I'll build a lid for it when I get to the trunk, about last on the list. So after looking at it and asking my body man about my back seat, he said looks great, now take it out and start over!! Seats to high. The upholsterer said stop worrying about it and start cutting it to pieces and he'd cover it. Apparently it's only money, mine. I have to do the back seat first so it all lines up with the side pieces that overlay the console that runs front to back. Tomorrow I shorten the seat, cut and weld.

My wife said the other day that she wishes I would never have started it. She thinks it brings me pain sometimes and it makes her sad to see me out there by myself. These are choices I have made. Maybe changing it so much helps me make it more about me. I'm not a damn psychologists, but I do know when I'm done it will be one of a kind and a trip to behold. So thanks for having me!! I like this hood and tail lights..... http://www.usbody.com/__Photo-Product-Views/A-Hood-Specs/T-Hoods/tmch-82.htm . http://www.carid.com/1985-chevy-monte-carlo-taillights/digi-tails-led-tail-light-kit-82190574.html .

Cut and lowered the back seat 3 inches. Not reinstalled permanently but you can see the difference.

I just did a quick search on the number. Looks like it might be a relay for the power locks.

You're welcome! I was surprised it actually came up. I've tried before with newer parts and struck out. Figured there was no way THAT would show up just typing the number into google. LOL!

Today I installed the rear window defroster switch, the headlight switch, which installed the same way it did on the Monte dash, key way and all, perfect! The two switches for the gauges, set and reset. The passenger door mirror adjuster will be on the dash as shown. The extra switch hole by the headlight switch will be used for a switch to open the hideaway headlights/ram air doors. One headlight and the other hole will be to draw in air. I have already bought the buckets, doors, motor and all the hardware for that. All from a 1991 Chrysler Lebaron Convertible. Knobs to be used is still up in the air. I have all the 1959-60 knobs, painted or chrome. Iv'e change the interior colors to burgundy and cream.

Been working on the car, but no pictures till Wednesday. Msd box wired, all the gauges working and new body bushings. I put temporary mufflers on it just to drive it to the custom pipe shop. From there it gets trailer-ed to a friend of a friends shop where they build cars for a few days, so all the wrinkles can be ironed out of the drive train on the dyno. That's one place I'll take some pictures. Most, no all of their cars go to Barrett-Jackson. There're two 1966 cobras there now. One is worth 1.4 million and the other is 1.8, Hard to believe, but true. 1400 HP cars being built and sold on a monthly basis, split window vets, 70 1/2 z-28, a a bunch of mid sixties Chevy novas, you name it, it's been in that shop. It's fun time for a guy who made it big in the dot com era. I personally can't relate to it, it's that unreal for me!!!!

Well, my Monte came out of the dark for a ride to the muffle shop. They had to install two Flow Monster #410300 CAT's to get the car legal when you look under it. One MagnaFlow #10792 Tru-X Stainless Steel Crossover Pipes and two Magnaflow #14239 mufflers. They couldn't get the 3 inch pipe over the rear end on one side because of the bracket and brake lines I mounted in the way. They made custom turn downs that aim out just a little at the rear end till I move the the line. They were going to go over the rear end and down behind the back tires. These MagnaFlow muffles are so mellow I may leave it this way. It turns out that all of the guys there either race G-Bodies or Chevy 2's. The guys there are going let me try on their 2 inch drop springs for the back to see if I like 1 or 2 inch drop on mine. That way I get to see them on and get a good part number. I haven't drop the hammer on the car yet till I get it dialed in, but the car is never going to keep up with the rear tires. It breaks loose at will, the next problem to address. In first gear, dead stop, overdrive activated, the car is in launch mode. It hits first high by it's self at 20 MPH, half a gear lower than second. Hit the button and shift and your in second, hit the button and it's in second high, hit the button and shift your in third, hit the button and it's third high. Auto mode and it shifts in and out of overdive at 47 MPH. Second gear is fun, the button is all your hit, at will, to have second or a half gear less than third. It's easy to keep it in that sweet spot with six gears to pick from. A few odds and ends at home and it's off for a serious dialing in.

Curious what shop you used?

I'm very happy to live in a non-emissions inspection county.

Love the HRPartsNStuff antisway bar you have. Just put mine in. So great to not be connected to the LCA. Phenomenal quality too. Love your thread and pics. Thanks.

Hey Ron!!! I would have done it there, but It was the last thing I was thinking About. I have a few more things to do before I put it to bed for the winter, but I'll do it.

Brian, It was always licensed at my lake home so it never had emissions testing. Now that it's registered in St Charles Mo with historical plates is never needs emissions or safety again. But If they catch your putting on exhaust on a car that had them, without them, it's 25000 dollar fine for the shop. I could have taken it to a near by county as I have before and not have them put on, but this is the last system this car will ever see again and these guys are the guys I wanted to do it and as long as they don't restrict, i don't care about the money. Their name is Complete Automotive and Custom Exhaust. They do 90 percent of all the rods in the surrounding area including all Fast Lane Classic Cars and all four by shops. I've known the guy for 35 years. Anyone that uses a pipe cutter so the pipe has the dimple or rolled edge from the cutter on it so it lays tighter to the piece your sliding over for a tighter weld seam is anal enough for me. That's what I call custom............

Thanks Gordon, It's the best you can buy!! Ron, 1 Slow SS turned me on to that sweet piece. It stiffened the car so much, that if I jack it up a foot back from the front tire on the frame, the whole side of the car comes off the ground!!

Ulli, I'm going to be praying for you new headers.. they look like they are hanging a bit low IMO. I hope it's just an odd camera angle...
I sure hope they work out OK, glad to see you're having some fun in the garage.

Hey Dave, your right, the drivers side even dips about a 1/4" more than the passenger side. The guys that put the exhaust on made note of it. These guys are g-body freaks and they spent some time taking notes on this and that under my car. They did note that they thought they fit as nice as they have ever seen. I've been driving it over different road conditions and got it to hit on a road with a short deep dip in it. I did this with these headers and old exhaust on and a pipe clamp with the threaded end aimed down to test this out. It hit the threads, but not hard enough to show. This system is on with a stainless steel band clamp which gives me about another 1 1/4 " more travel over my test set up. Yes, I will have to be more careful than before though. My real problem comes when I try to drop the back 2". The front may come up a 1/4", but the rest could get ugly.
