Ok, I've got a lot of helpful responses as to locate my oil pressure sender (with stock guage). The problem is that one of the header tubes is so close to the bolt where the sender was. I looked behind the intake manifold on the driver's side where I could place the pressure sender there, but there's a 4 inch (unknown to me) sensor or thermal valve that's residing there. I have the L69 for my '86SS, does any one know what that thing is? If so, can I unscrew that and place my oil sender there? Anyone come across this situation?

Yes, unscrew that 2 prong switch that is beside the distributor, and put your oil sending unit in its place. Don't forget to plug the hole by the oil filter. You may need a 45 degree adapter fitting up top too to help it clear the distributor. I have a picture that may help you out.

Joe,
Is that switch vital to the operation if I retain the CCC system? What is that original switch for? Is it a 1/8 NPT thread type of 45 degree adapter I should look for? I found a bunch of 90 degree fittings/adapters made of brass at the plumbing section of home depot, but no 45 degree ones. Wonder who carries 45 degree adapters? Any additional pics would be very helpful. Thanks for your help.

Choke switch IIRC. And parts stores have plenty of 45s (street elbow may be the name used). Yes, it's 1/8NPT for that port.

It throws the choke light on if there is no oil pressure. Not vital at all IMO. I suppose a couple of well placed 90's will get that sensor out of the way enough to clear the distributor.

Mine, as it sits right now, is the 45 coming out of the block, to a T. Then I have the factory single prong sending unit, and tubing going to an aftermarket oil gauge.

I strongly suggest at least an aftermarket engine temp gauge and oil psi gauge. They are more accurate.

For your set up I would suggest a t fitting to just keep the choke light off. You can also get some 90's and small pieces of the 1/8 pipe to move the sender a little in the stock location also.

If You remove that oil switch, make sure to jumper across the two female prongs inside the connector. Or you will lose power to your automatic electric choke! Found out the hard way.

Any luck? They should have that in stock in the Weatherhead Cabinet. Part number is going to be something similar to 3350X2

I dont have the two prong connector hooked up and I measured 12 volts to the wire going to my carb for the choke - the only thing I noticed though is that it keeps the choke light on the dash.

Guess I am gonna have to go check that out since I am running a Edelbrock carb with Electric choke to be sure.

If you're running an Edelbrock or Holley and you're using that factory wire to power your choke, I've heard that it doesn't do a very good job. It's best to wire it straight from a switched 12 volt source.
