OK, so I figured I would share the prices of the swap, so if anybody wanted to ask questions or do it, they could just let me know. I'll try to give websites where I got or did the stuff as well. Right now we're figuring with this swap we're going to get a mid/high 11's car out of this with a little more than stock motor and a 4l80 trans.

4l80 and 6.0 LQ9 from salvage yard with 65k miles--$2300

wiring harness local salvage yard w/ puter (for 4l60) $125

rewiring harness/programming computer (done by jesse @ www.wait4meperformance.com ) $350.00

Complete LS1 front end accesory brackets, ect--$800 local dealership

Transdapt Motor Mounts--$60 from summit

Trans crossmember from Summit for--$220

Fuel Filter from Napa for 00 Corvette--$60

Mini Starter from Summit Racing--159.99

ZO6 cam,springs/pushrods used from www.ls1tech.com --150

Headers from BRPHotrods.com--525.00

CAI from Ebaymotors--100.00

Driveshaft shortened--160.00

Fuel lines and fittings--100.00

Fuel Sending unit from gbodyparts.com 180.00

Throttle cable Lokar from summit--45.00

Steering shaft from jeep ebaymotors--65.00

Wiring harness to make 4l60 harness work on 4l80 trans from www.speartech.com--180.00

radiator top plate from ss4ever--50

electric fans from intrepid on craigslist--50

Guages for speedo and Tach from summit--300 (depends on which ones you buy though.)

Thats what I can think of right now, about 5500 bucks total, yes somet things on there are "extras" and you could probably take about 1k off that price tag w/o headers and cam and ministarter. The reason I didn't use the Motor Mounts/crossmember from BRP in the end was that it sat a little too high for comfort with the truck intake I used. The Jeep steering shaft was used to help clear the headers.

If you want to do the swap and save money, try getting an ls1, this way you can cut back on the front end acesories but you'll have to get a different pan or you can get teh 5.3 or 4.8 and still have fuel injection. The wiring harness, I would have just bought one from GM, even though its 1k, its a much easier plug in. The swap isn't bad though, once you do it, you realize that its not as bad as everybody makes it sound, specially when you look at it. I went through emissions yesterday, and was only 1/5 of what i was alotted, passed wtih FLYING colors!!!! I have 4.11 gears in the monte, drove around town and highway, got 23/25 mpg...and its more streetable than my last combo.

Websites to learn from:

www.ls1tech.com
www.wait4meperformance.com
www.gmperformanceparts.com
www.speartech.com
www.maliburacing.com

thats all I can think of right now

I will post my pics tomorrow, if there is anything specific you want for the pics, please let me know, I'll try and get them for you.

Otis

(wanna make this a sticky for those who have done the swap or make a seperate forum for LSX info--Hint Hint)

Why did you change the steering shaft?

The only reason I changed it was because the top was hitting them, they were a great fit, but they rubbed, so I changed out, because I was goign to anyway. I still had to put a tiny ding in them, but that was about it. I guess with the different mounts, everything lined up a bit different you know?

Did you use all of the emissions gear from the donor car?

No sir, I only used the two O2 sensors that sit in the collectors of the exhaust and bought two 3" magnaflow race style cats. The exhaust is a true dual setup with flowmaster 40 series mufflers, 2 1/2" al teh way except the cats. Like I said, killed emissions, did almost as good as the wifes 05 acura TL which is an ultra low emissions vehicle.

I'm getting set to do nearly the same swap. LQ4/4l80e, F-body accessories, wait4me harness, etc.

I found a decent deal on a low mile LQ4, but after buying LS1 accessories, tranny, LS1 intake, etc. I probably would have had nearly the same amount into a complete LS1/4l60e pullout.

If working under a budget, Pacesetter headers will work on a G-Body with some modification. Rick Fisher on MalibuRacing.com makes a crossmember for pretty much any GM transmission into a g-body.

Here are some of the costs that I've had so far:

02 6.0 LQ4 36K miles w/harness and computer $1200

2WD 4l80E $400

F-body Pacesetter Headers $259

Used F-body accessories $400

Iceman crossmember $149

LS1 intake/injectors/fuel rail $100

Electronic Autometer Speedometer used on ebay $50

I know those engines burn clean but in some states like mine that is not enough. In my state any motor you swap in has to have all of the factory emissions gear to be a legal swap which sucks.

Buick runner, really, the question becomes how do they know? I mean you can do it and keep the emissions stuff, put headers on that keep the other stuff you need and when you have the wiring harness reworked, make sure to keep all the emissions stuff.

Pacesetters I've heard will work, but with some beating and banging, again on a budget though, theres alot you can do to save yourself some money here and there...will get pics today hopefully shortly, will probably post them here and the "my ss" portion

There are two ways they can find out, in my state a inspector can pop your hood on a whim, another thing they do here sometimes are spot roadside inspections to make sure people don't remove stuff in-between inspections. So far I have not seen a LSX swap where they kept all of the emission systems which probably varies with the model of the donor car. It's nice to see a price list for the needed parts for this swap.

I thought about keeping them al, it wouldn't have been much work just telling jesse at wait4meperformance.com that I wanted all of it with the wiring harness. The only thing I can think of needing to be removed from any wiring harness is the VATS (Vehicle AntiTheft System) besides that its up to you what you want to run.

On a side note, what if you ran the new engine with a carb? How would they test that? Just thinking out loud now though laugh

If they pop the hood and see a carb on a EFI engine they would fail it so fast regardless how clean it burns which is unfair.

Couple of questions if you don't mind. smile
Which TransDapt mounts did you use, the 4572 / 4592 (stock location) or 4575 / 4595 (1" offset)? Did the Summit crossmember mount in the stock location?
Thanks,
Larry.

Comment about using the stock CZ Monte trans behind the ZZ4.

Aren't the GN and Monte SS both the same "D5" converter?

lol, the answers, the 1" offset ones are the ones I used. The trans dapt transmission crossmember is a build it yourself type. I ended up using my 200r4 crossmember from iceman, it works for now, but I'm getting him to build me a 4l80e crossmember.
