I'm a new member but a long time fan of the MCs. I owned my first one back when I was 16. Then purchased this car here when I was 18. This car has a pretty good story to begin with. I purchased it orgianlly as a car for my wife then I ended up taking it over. After owning it for a couple years I ditched the 305 for a GM Performance Parts 300hp/350 along with some other add ons including a 100 hp nitrous kit. Now this was in the mid to late 90s an the car ran high 7s "1/8" an pretty much beat up anything on the street at the time. Well time progressed a year or so an the wife started to really hate the car "jealous" an forced me to sell it in February 2000 for $1500. A friend of mine bought it an within 3 weeks blew the motor up. Well he sold it to another friend for $500 who yanked the motor/tranny an all of the good performance parts off it an sold it to one of his friends "Buyer #3" for $500". Well that guy took the rearend out it was a 8.5 with 3.90s, new gm carrier with a mini spool, all new bearings an seals "I had almost $2000 in this rearend" then sold it to another guy that owned a body shop. Well I tried several time to buy it back over the past 2 years from the buyer #3 not knowing #4 exsisted. Now me an buyer #3 are not real friendly with eachother an we never could agree an in fact he told me last year the car was crushed. But I was informed 2 weeks ago the car did still exsist an was put in contact with buyer #4 an after going to look at it I was shocked the driver door an hood was missing but all in all it was in good shape!! So I bought her back for $280!!!! Well after draging her home I really wasn't sure what I was gonna do with it till pieces of the puzzle started coming together. I got the chance to buy a LS2 with 12,xxx miles on it the other day for $500 from a friend of mine "no its not hot it was a customer pay engine swap deal at a dealership". So here are the plans for it. LS2 with L92 heads, GMPP single plane intake, 92mm FAST TB, custom grind Comp Cam, Diamond Pistons "std. bore" an a set of 60mm turbos hanging out front! Tranny will most likely be a 4L80E with possibly a manual valve body. Rear end will be a 9" that was dontated to me also. Front suspension will be tubular upper an lower control arms. Rear will be wolf race craft adj rear suspension. All in all this should be a fun car when completed an just thank I have all this fun to thank my exwife for shes gone an I got my favorite old car back!! O yea an I had to give my fiance my 02 Corvette to to keep her happy!!

Well its been alittle while since I have said anything so let me tell whats going on. I got a replacement driver door for the one that was missing for $75 from the scrap yard last week an got it all mounted up it was in pretty good shape just had a 3 minor dents in it. I've got the door an the driver rear quarter's small dents an dings worked out now an I hope to have the fender an header panel preped an ready for primer next week. I'm still on the hunt for a hood but I think I have one located.
I've been debating on what belt system I'm gonna use on the front of the motor. An I've decided on the Corvette setup mostly because of the alternator location. Well I was out at a buddy of mines shop today tinkering with my 02 Corvette "I have the motor, tranny an rearend out of it right now freshening it up" an I noticed a LS1 style water pump an belt tensinor laying in the floor. I asked him about them an he said they were both good he replaced them on his wifes car trying to trace down a squeak. Well I bought them both for $5!!!
So I'm probably gonna stick with the LS1 C5 setup.
The ideal of the L92s I think have been scraped. As much boost as I'm gonna be running I don't wanna have to worry about the heads lifting an the L92s deck is just not that big. So I'm probably going with a set of Trick Flows.
I'm really hoping to set the block its self in the car next week for some mocking with my stock C5 manifolds reversed to see if they are useable for my turbo setup. I may also see if I can squeeze my LT headers off my vette in just for giggles. I will post some pics asap.

I think the 4l80E valve body is all electronic. Awesome project anyway and keep the pics coming.

The 4L80 can be converted to a manual valve body.

Neither can I....
I think now, I wish I had spent the money on an LS engine swap instead of that 383.

Sorry for the delayed answer I used the edelbrock LS1 plates an a set of Moroso "part numbers 62515 & 62630" nock off solid mounts I got off ebay for $46. I'm in the process right now of preping the car to get ready to paint. I've been so busy with work last couple weeks I ain't had alot of time to work on it though. I did get alot done today though. The ideal of the L92 heads has been scraped to much problems with them an running boost. Most likely I'm going with a set of RHS buddy of mine works at Comp Cams an can get me a pretty decent deal on them but damn they are still high $$$!!!! Also I hope to order the rods an pistons sometime this month an start putting the bottom end together.

Well plans have changed again. Honestly the cost of the turbos an the labor of doing them was gonna be way to much an I'm ready to have a car to race again. So I'm going with a simple 402 Eagle rotating assembly, most likely a set of trickflow 225cc heads, efi setup with 2 stages of gas "250 on fogger an 150 on plate.". I found a 4.3 gas tank I gotta go pickup tomorrow "$50" an I found a 9" rearend also but not sure if its gonna work or not doing research on it now.

Can't belive its been 4 years befgore something has finally happened with this car. But here is actually an update! Its been sitting in the garage collecting dust waiting on funds till 2 months ago when it finally started coming to life again. The car has been painted back the factory color, I've installed a set of SS sway bars, all new tie rods, center line, idler arm, Grand Prix upper/lower joust bars an radiator bars, SS steering box, Blazer spindles & brake calipers with steelbraided lines, new radiator, Intrepid fans, Jeep steering stem, Eibach Pro spring set, Edelbrock front shocks an Bilstein rears, A GN 8.5" rear end is being built as we speak with a new posi, Moser 30 spline axles, all new seals/bearings an gears.
Now for the heart!! A 5.3 Bored to 5.7, custom grind Comp Cam 20/224 581 113, Maley Pistons, CNC ported heads flowing 315cc@600lift, Comp Cams shaft mount rockers, Fast intake, 42# LS3 injectors, 200 shot of nitrous, Corvette C5 pulley setup with underdrive pulley, 4L60E tranny rebuilt to a 4L65E.
Were getting really close to putting it back on the ground as soon as I can I will post some new pics.
I know there is somethings I'm forgetting so I will update as I can think of things.
BTW this is now turned into my daughters 16th Birthday present. She said dad I want the fastest car in school LOL

The rear end finally is back under the car 8gonna try to weld the disc caliper mounts on this weekend. I have ran into a major pain with the cylinder heads so they have to go back to the machine shop next week to have a new set of valves installed. But as soon as they get done we hope to start installing the motor an tranny in.
I will try to take some pics an post them ASAP.
Also I have something really cool up my sleeve forr a custom gauges setup that I promise no one has ever seen.

Pretty much from here I just gotta get my buddy over an get him to do his wiring magic on it then get the exhaust work done, tires on the vinyl top installed an get the tune dialed in. Our planned date is June 13 so I can hand her over to my daughter for her 16th Bday present. Man this has been alot of work!!!

Well te car has been up an running about 2 months now with only very minor issues. All in all were very pleased with the way the car came out an my daughter absolutely loves the car an all her friends think the car is so cool! Who would have thought 16 year old kids now days would respect an old plain Jane car like this. Her car has been the talk of school when the boys go to talk about racing she says everyone says if you think your bad go get a piece of Mor's "my daughter" Monte Carlo. An everyone declines lol.
I've logged quite a few miles driving it myself an the car handles very good, brakes are awesome an the power is stupid it makes my '02 Corvette feel like a V6.
We took it to the track last sunday there was a huge turnout but we managed to squeeze in one pass. I launched it about 1000 "it will stall 3000 on street tires" it instantly started spinning on launch. I completely lifted got back in it again it hooked for a brief moment then spun all the way through 1st spinning so hard it missed the shift an hit the rev limiter. Once it got into 2nd it chirped the tires the rest of the way down the track. Still after all that it ran a 1/8 mile 8.65 with a 2.21 60' not to shabby for cooper cobras. After I made the pass several people came up an wanted to know what size shot I hit it with.
I will be picking up a set of drag radials this week an a buddy is gonna let me borrow his 15x4 front runners an if I have the funds I will be picking up the last needed piece for the nitrous system a Harris speed works plate. If I can hook it an hit it with a 150 shot I'm almost sure we will have a 6 sec 1/8 mile car that is a daily driver full body car with power seats, windows, locks an air conditioning and on top of that gets about 25 mpg on the highway.
