Spectra makes a kit that has a bunch of grommets & inserts to allow you to drill a hole (comes with a xxxx drill bit too) into plastic or aluminum tube to add for the vent tube. You want to put the port behind the MAF so it reads that air, the port on drivers side valve cover is regulated to only allow a certain amount of vacuum. Other LS engines have a port on the valley cover too, mine didnt.

Looking at buying some spark plug wires for my LQ4 for my 87 Monte Carlo SS. I have Hedman's longtube headers and was wondering what MSD part number to buy?

32829 for red
32823 for black

You just buy ones for a Silverado, those are the MSD part numbers.

is anyone using the factory ls1 fuel rail cover in there ls1 swap? I'm not using them right now, but I'm thinking that they will really spruce up the engine compartment. but it looks like the passenger side fuel rail cover will need some trimming to clear the AC box

305hoSS, not sure on LS2/3 but the Y body LS1 manifolds definitely will not clear. They hit the clam shells. read my thread. It tells you exactly what ended up fitting, what hit and what the clearance was. Same with the oil pans.

The truck manifolds fit with modification. The F body longtubes fit with clearancing on the #2 primary unless you have aftermarket upper control arms. If you have aftermarket UCA's then no clearance required.

I'm sorry I was referring to the gen5 camaro stock exhaust manifolds not any headers. Im only asking because I can get a good deal on a pair. also, I think they look better than the ls1 f-body manifolds.

It will likely all depend on your mounts. I was able to use stock LS1 manifolds just fine, but I'm using custom plates and different chassis mount location than most guys. If you can borrow some to try out, that might be the only way to say for sure if they would work on your car.

I'd like to make sure I have the vacuum hose routings/connections correct on my LS2 swap:

1. Can I route the Charcoal canister to the plastic line that connects to the driver's side of the throttle body?

2. There is a plastic line on the passenger side valve cover. I think that goes to the stock intake elbow, correct?

3. Can I "T" the vacuum line from behind the intake manifold for the vacuum ball and then to the clear or grey color plastic line that runs under the evaporator?

4. Does the purple plastic vacuum line that again, comes from under the evaporator connect to the heater valve?

One of those lines near the throttle body is not under vacuum, its the fresh air side of the PCV system but I'm not sure what one is which on the LS2 intake.

1. Not sure about running vacuum to the charcoal canister without some sort of valve. Stock set up used some kind of thermal valve that only sucked up fumes when the engine was warmed up, connecting the charcoal canister direct to vacuum could try to collapse the gas tank. I left my tank hooked to the charcoal canister and didn't connect anything to the engine side.

2. Pretty sure, on my truck intake it goes right to the port by the throttle body (as mentioned in my the first paragraph)

3. If you want to possibly loose vacuum for your booster due to broken vinyl tubing down the road.

4. Not sure, can't check my car while at work for color confirmation.

There is another vacuum line behind the manifold that isn't for the brake booster. Can I use that for the vacuum ball and HVAC line?

That's what I used them for on mine.

Cool, that's what I'll use.
Scott, are you using your charcoal canister?

JMireles, when are you going to finish that swap? If you ditch the factory charcoal canister and use one from a truck or camaro off the tank vent it works perfectly.

Well Montague, I hope to have it running before the end of the month. There are still a few loose ends to tie up before I can fire it up. I'm really close though. I'm waiting on a pigtail from Jabin.

Hi, I'm currently using fbody pacesetter longtube headers in my car. They fit ok, but I was thinking about stepping up to a 1 7/8 primary tube headers. I was looking at the holley(hooker) gbody ls1 swap headers and I'm trying to figure out if they will work. They are designed around holleys engine mounts, which are 3/4 setback. Whereas I'm using 1" set back mounts. Has anyone used these headers with 1" setback engine mounts?

Friend used their whole kit and the header fitment is top notch but you'll need to get the car way in the air to get them in from under the car. I don't remember any tight looking spots, but for the fitment they may be worth trying.

I found a thread on ls1tech where a guy test fit the hooker 1 7/8 headers along with 1" setback plates. And they fit like a glove.

Here is the link, enjoy!

Was your friend able to install them from underneath with the ac box in place?

Good to know thanks for sharing. I will say that my friends were some of the first ones off the line and after some run time one of the primary tubes split at the seam. Hooker sent him a new set and he sent them back with no questions asked. I assume if there was a problem with the material or process they have the necessary adjustments to make sure it doesn't happen again.
