Ok guys, it was asked in another thread who has stickshifts in their car. I figured rather than steal that guys thread, lets make a new one. we been tossing around the manual monte cult jokingly for a while now, lets stop beating around the bush and take it to the next level This should be the official list for manual cult members, if you got a stick, lets see your name and hear what you got! I got a world class t5 from a camaro, camaro bellhousing with camaro pedals and hydraulics. Would never go back to auto!

Here's my membership page. Note the T-56 speedo cable drive conversion and the genuine manual trans steering column. The page is overdue for an update, there's no stripe kit or interior pics.

I've been manual for a few years now too. Lots more fun to drive!!! We used G-body mechanical linkage (clutch/brake pedals, Z-bar, and frame bracket), SpeedDirect upper/lower pushrods with spherical rod ends, '83 V8 F-body T5 bellhousing and fork, World Class T5, and Hurst shifter. We reused the stock crossmember, but moved up 2.5" in the frame and my friend cut/rewelded the mount in the correct place.
SSeeya, Steve Ragusa - North Jersey '88 SS - BudgetTourer - ZZ4-cammed 355 TPI, serpentine belt conversion, World Class 5-speed, 17" wheels, 12" front discs, Eibachs/Bilsteins, 1LE lower A-arms, tall lower balljoints, 34mm front swaybar, 3/4" straight rear bar, Celebrity headlights, and more. Sold on 2/28/11.

95 T56 using stock LT1 Bellhousing and hydralics, 85 F-body pedals modified. Stock cross member modified. Centerforce DF clutch, stock Flywheel, and a Pro5.0 Shifter. Def a lot of fun to drive got my hands on another Monte and thats going to become manual also. So much more fun to drive, these cars should have came from the factory with a stick!

I'll be on the list eventually. I'm gathering up parts now. You guys need to put up some close up pics if you can of the way your clutch linkage is setup. (Mechanical/Hydraulic) Pics with headers/ pics with stock exhaust, bellhousing you used. etc, etc.

Bernie, What's the deference between the Corvette ZF 6 speed and the T56? I can get the Vette ZF alot cheaper than the T56. Is it alot bigger? Is that why you had to cut the trans tunnel?

Just wondering any benefit over using the f-body stuff? F body stuff has wierd fittings from what I can remember, this was all inverted flared hard line with NPT fittings Bernie, What's the deference between the Corvette ZF 6 speed and the T56? I can get the Vette ZF alot cheaper than the T56. Is it alot bigger? Is that why you had to cut the trans tunnel? ZF's are pretty strong out of the box compared to T-56, but the problem is that nobody knows how to work on them. They also have an incessant growling problem and its pretty hard to find a used one in good shape. I've read that if the clutch pedal does not FULLY disengauge between shifts, you end up with alot of problems too, apparently the vette guys have problems from that. I dont know if its bigger... mine was about 100lbs dry. The main problem is that the entire body of the trans is offset to the driver side of the centerline that passes through the input/output shaft. The C4 ZF's are not transaxles or "remote" transes. You just need a custom flywheel if you run a two piece rear main. Not sure about a one piece, the transes come off of LT1's. The McLeod flywheel that I have cost about $600 from what the prev owner told me, and thats for a single mass. Apparently they are "supposed" to have dual mass flywheels. I'd love to see where you are finding ZF's cheaper than T-56's so I can pick up a spare. The last one I saw in good shape was a blue tag (not as desirable) and it was $1300. I found a black tag with a blown reverse for $400 that I might be able to have my reverse put into if I ever needed it, but teh labor would probably be rediculous. Those prices are for just the trans, no bell or anythign else
