I have a t-top car that whenever it rains, if I lift up the pass. floormat it is soaking wet underneath. Does anyone else have this problem or had it? I cant find any leaks anywhere on the car and it is water not antifreeze, and it only does it when it rains so its not the heater core.
Anyone know where to look for leaks?

i had that leak on my '81, the sealant between the heater&a/c box and the firewall was cracked. i took the lower windshield trim(about 4" wide) off, slapped on a generous dab of black RTV in the crack and that seemed to help. i don't think i got to the whole crack, some parts were hard to access, but i didn't have such a big puddle anymore.

'83 383 with ported Vortec heads, GW upper arms for the 12" discs in front. Custom aluminum dash with full compliment of Auto Meter guages and a little custom interior work.

I agree with Monte 383, I have the exact same problem. I have an 87 SS with ttops. When it rains I would get that same problem, water under the mat. There were holes in the firewall and water was leeking through, on both the driver and passenger side. Also check under the interior molding. Make sure your are not leeking from the windshield. Good Luck

I took off the chrome strip and the factory sealant was all cracked with a 1/8 inch gap. I sealed it all up,but it hasn't rained yet. Hopefully that was it (I think it was)
Thanks

Cue I am just wondering do you have an SS or other Monte Carlo? If your lower windshield trim is chrome its not a stock SS piece it should be black on the SS, and chrome on regular LS&CL models. All the trim on SS's are supposed to be black. I also have this same problem and need to check under that piece.

Had this problem in my 84 CL. The water, in my case, was coming primarily from the front corner of the door windows.....oh hell, who am I kidding? It was coming from EVERYWHERE! The seals in that thing were nothin' but dust.

But seriously, the main problem spot in mine was the front corner. Good luck!
