How much $ did you end up sinking into that. I considered it for awhile because i got a free hood with damage from fire right above carb. Ended up going with cowl induction but would now consider this an option on another car. Looks great.

I wasn't expecting you to test performance...I was just asking if you would post results of noticeable flowthrough on the highway. Reason being...if you don't get flowthrough, a cowl certainly won't.
I know what you mean, I do think there is a difference, but nothing amazing \:\)

If it was a '79 then it was cut open at the back by someone. All shakers since '73 had fake molded vents at the rear of the scoop and were purely for looks. There is a wingnut on a smaller lid under the shaker, then the scoop attached with a ring clamp to the breather.

Here is an uncut post-73 shaker:

The fiberglass shaker I've had for years and cost me ~$10 IIRC and the hood was a bonus from my parts car. I bought the rest of parts from Howard at Pontiac plus for $164US including the smaller lid, the adapter plate, a GM kickdown switch and the functional kit.

I had a heck of a time finding a baseplate, or a breather to fit my other shaker scoop (16.5" in diameter), so I decided to bite the bullet and get the parts online as I've wanted to do this for a long time. I was working on my own functional kit (had flap and linkage done) when I came across Howards breather for sale on ebay and inquired about it - after inquiring about a package deal I decided to just buy his kit and save the hassle

There's a white 84 SS here with a shaker scoop grafted into the hood. Unfortunatly the owner is very "secretive" about the car and I haven't seen it out for a couple years.
Hope it works as well as it looks Kevin!

Its mini-cowl induction \:\)

Nice job!

Not sure if you will take this is as a compliment or an insult, but at first it reminded me of the GN hood bulge...

But one thing's for sure, I like it !

What color(colours) are you going to paint it? White hood/shaker black? As I recall you said you have some 350 stickers you are going to put each side of the shaker.

It looks really awesome, glad to see you finally had time to put it on. Hows the new job?

Later....

Clint

I like the GN hoods so no insult there, and it does have a resemblence now that you mention it \:\)

Everything will be white when it gets painted. I like trying to keep things look like they could have came that way using factory parts - it should blend in smoothly when painted up I think. I am probably going to have some 5.7L SS decals made up for each side to match the theme the trans ams had going.
