Anyone have a better search site to try and find info out on cars? Carfax is ok. I find it hard to believe e there is nothing out there to trace history better.

Second, any site out there to check build codes when the original RPO is gone?

I have searched both posts topics and did not find what I’m looking for. Thanks Brett

There is also a resource that law enforcement and insurance companies have access to, I forget the name, but it is a searchable database that shows some details Carfax/Autocheck do not. But you'd need a connection in either field to get that.

GM offers to provide a copy of the invoice for I think $50 or so, that would show all the options, original dealer, etc...pretty much everything a window sticker would have but a different more primitive format. Years ago someone working at GM was providing these for free based on request, a long wait/backlog and she'd e-mail it when she had time to run it. Then GM figured out they can charge for the service.

Not sure if either of those help but things I can think of off the top of my head that are along those lines.

Does this help? or are you looking for specifics of just your car?

https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/gm-heritage-archive/vehicle-information-kits.html
This is the link PB86 was referring to.
The insurance industry has the info you need but it is confidential for law enforcement and insurance companies use.
https://www.nicb.org/vincheck
The NICB check is free.
This is the secure website that contains vehicle information on everything since the beginning of time. Unfortunately, LE and insurance use only, I no longer have the password. You need to know the right person to search it.
