Unfortunately some of the interior red sticker is coming off and I was looking to replace it. Any idea if there is something similar on the market?

Also if there was a better forum thread to post this in just let me know!

The door panels didn't come with the red stripe on them, the PO must of added that. The door panels just have the chrome mylar strip which often peels off over time. The correct red stripe is available however if you do want to replace it or if you need it for the dash trim, 3M tomato red scotchcal, part number 70176

Yes, someone has added that as said above and the tomato red is pretty dead on.

I think it's likely the 3M scotchal 70176 is what GM actually used for the trim. I've been meaning to find the correct shade of silver for the LS trim, someone did the homework on the red color many years ago.

And Tomato Red happens to be an excellent match to the 83/84 Hurst/Olds wheel outer trim as well. I think it was a GM thing to share the same red trim on all the tape stuff that was bright red. They did like to use 3M's Scotchcal a lot.

I realized my roll is almost gone, usually lasts me 5+ years but I just looked and apparently 3M discontinued making the Scotchcal pinstripes effective 10/31/2020. I can find some places listing them online but so far am striking out. I'm sure some random rolls are floating around just a matter of finding them.

OMG! They cannot be found ANYWHERE!

If you are willing to cut as I am, search first in Google Images for scotchcal 72376. You'll see that's a double stripe, 1/16" and 1/8" with a 1/8" gap between them. Then eBay scotchcal 72376. I bought the one that is currently for sale for $37.69/free shipping. It's still listed there so I guess the seller has several of them. My hand should still be steady enough to cut in between them, I hope.

Now the question becomes, when am I ever going to go through 150' of this stuff. I guess it leaves lots of chances to screw up the cutting!

Good tip. So it's a solid stripe but red 1/16" and red 1/8" with a white gap? I looked online and can find some info but limited pics. Found this chart by 3M: https://multimedia.3m.com/mws/media/677477O/3m-scotchcal-striping-tape-2010-color-card.pdf

I meant to find the correct silver for the 86-88 LS dash trim too over the years, wish I would of played around with it, now can't even find the numbers that I think are a match.

I think it's more likely a clear gap than a white gap, but if you like you can wait until mine arrives and I can confirm.

Now you have me hoping that regardless of the color of the gap, that it's not adhesive and the 1/16" strip comes off separate from the 1/8" strip. That might have been a bad assumption. Fingers crossed. One way or another, one of us had to blaze the trail, if those 70176 cannot be found on eBay, even in completed items, I'd say they are all spoken for by now. eBay is usually the last place any particular item can be found before it disappears from the planet.

The other option to the 3M tape is you pay a car pinstriper to paint the pinstripe on instead of sticking tape. We have a local guy here that does all the local hot rods and also does a lot of dealership striping.
i had him paint the top of my air cleaner lid to mimic the lid on the 5.0 Liter HO Camaro L69. We just changed the 5.0 to a 7.0. Most people think it's a decal, nope. painted. Of course nobody can do the math, "what's a 7.0?" And the red on the air cleaner lids is , tomato red.

I have what's left of my roll of 3M tomato red, used on the console cover. I find like all those tapes the adhesive dries out and they just don't stick well anymore. When more of that tape starts to fall off I will take those parts to the pinstriper and have them painted.

My stripes arrived after sitting several days in Fort Worth.

It's about as good as I could have hoped. There is a clear protective layer on top of the stripes but it is meant to peel off. So yes, you can carefully cut down the 1/8" white part and use them as separate stripes.

A couple of quick snaps:

Go get your stripes before these too disappear from the earth!

Thanks for checking back in. Plan to get a roll but still will keep my eye peeled for the 70176 in case any old stock pops up.
