My car was produced at the Arlington Plant and delivered in November 1983. From the factory, it had an XJS 3.8 Liter emission decal on the radiator support. I never realized this until 1992 when taking my car to an oil change shop. I told them to use the truck SBC oil filter and 5 quarts of oil. The tech called me to the car and said said it was a six cylinder. I showed him the four spark plug wires on the driver side "times two." I asked him why he thought it was a six cylinder and he showed me the emission tag.
Curious, does anyone have an SS that left the factory with a XJS 3.8 Liter emissions tag?
Must have been a Monday or Friday mistake. Maybe the Cowboys were playing on Monday Night Football. The 8th digit in the VIN is "G". It is an L69. I currently have a replacement emission decal with XSF, P/N 14073579. It was my "best" guess of the correct decal 10 years ago. I have my original in my car binder.
