It's been a long time coming, but my Monte is going to get finished finally. Teamed up with Kenny's Rod Shop here in Boise and with his help she'll get done.

So now a little visual history.

Here she is stock in '93

After her first paint job, the beginnings of Grey Wolf. Check out the oversize emblems grin

Now a defunct local car show, McDonald's Picnic in '94. A glimpse of a Hurst 442 in background

In the next post, where she was before I tore her apart.

Now we are here today. Again Kenny's Rod Shop (KRS) will be helping me get her back together. Once a slot opens up with his painter, I'll get her to KRS. There he'll shave the door handles to flush door handle, get her off the chassis and put on the rotisserie. Then I get the chassis back to do my part. The body will go to strip and paint while I work chassis. So for a sneak peek at what will be going in.

Hopefully I can keep posting on this thread on a consistent basis. That means she's getting close to driving again.

Stay Tuned!

Just a quick post for a tiny update. I got some dress work done on the LS3. I'm still waiting on the hose fittings for the fuel rail crossover. But got the valve covers painted and installed. Helpful hint, if anyone ever gets the Proform coil pack relocation kit that I have, assemble it off the engine. If you drop one of the washers, they WILL make it under the manifold onto the valley pan.. So I had a set of valve cover stickers made for an old school look. Here is what it looks like now.

Now I have a question for you all. What should I do with the oil pan? Should it stay bare aluminum, paint it red or paint it black?

Hi Boise - I'd go with a thin layer of black paint to improve surface emissivity. The idea here is to make the oil pan a good heat sink.

I think it would look good black. Kind of tie in the top, front, and bottom.

Just a quick update. Got some parts in last night. I'm going with the Dakota Digital RTX gauge set up. I want to use the two gauge set up to replace the ash tray in front of the console. So I had Dakota Digital make two gauges for me, a trans temp and fuel pressure. They turned out perfect. Here are the visuals.

More parts are in, I'll get those posted soon.

Just a parts update. Finally the entire suspension kit showed up. Friday the Currie rear end shows up. Now I just have to wait on the shop to say they're ready for me. They'll remove the body and give me the frame back to work on it while the body is at paint. Getting itchy to start work and all the parts piled up in the garage doesn't help.

Here are all the pretty bits.

Looks good, that is the same suspension I put in mine 87 monte carlo SS aerocoupe. Currently in shop getting ls3/6l80 swap. Engine, trans installed exhaust being installed. I also had dakota digital istrument panel installed. Again good looking car and setup.

The one I went with from mikes montes. Its a quality piece. I should have my vacuum gauge from speedhut this week. Man, those Dakota digitals are nice.

I must say everything you have done so far with that car is A+, top notch. Keep it up.

Steven, that is a beautiful build. You will have an awesome machine when you are done. It gives me some inspiration to do some upgrades. Good Luck

Hi Boise,

Everything looks great except for the rear control arms, and specifically, those cylindrical TPU bushings. They're a big mistake in the rear, because they'll greatly inhibit articulation of the suspension.

Best,

Just a quick update. Just got back my rendering from KEG Digital Garage. I'm really happy with it. They even chose an appropriate background without asking.

What do you think?

Looks great, nice build/thread. Cool to see the different iterations your SS has had, stock, dark silver(dig that color/shade) with the 355 to the update to more modern suspension and the LS3.

Finally!!!!!! The car is at the paint shop! They're going to put all panels back on so they can block with proper gaps. Then they're going to blow her back apart and get me the chassis. Then I can post pictures of all the fun That I get to have. Stay tuned.

Sadly, if you want the car to be both low and handle, you're going to hate the QA1 front suspension kit.
