I plan on rewiring the engine compartment of my 84 SS since the original harness is in very poor condition. Specifically the passenger side coming from the ECM. I do not want to just cut and splice in new wires if possible. Does anyone know what the connectors are that plug directly into the ECM and if there are any aftermarket available? I would prefer to crimp terminals and build my own harness with the connections I need. Most of the connectors in the engine bay are weather-pack and metri-pack connections but I cannot figure out what the 2 plugs are for the ECM.

If anyone knows I'd appreciate the input. Thanks

Jonathon, I would check with www.mikesmontes.com Mike sells recycled parts and new parts, if you don't see what you are looking for on his page, do give him a call. He is in Ohio as well as you. Good luck!!

The part # for the two plugs are 12010722 and 12010720 but I seriously doubt you would find them sold anywhere. And then you would need to find the pins used in them, and then would need to buy the crimper to attach them to the wire.

Easiest thing is to find the complete used harness and "fix" anything damaged.

Occasionally a used harness will appear on "parts for sale" here. The 84 ECM and all sensors harness may be a little different from other years but could be modified to fit an 84. 87-88 harness would be different but an 84-86 harness would be a good choice.

You could call Mike's Monte first to what he has laying around.

another would be Dixie Monte parts.

I did check Mike's Montes and didn't see anything listed but never thought to give him a call. Looks like that might be the way to go.

Thanks for those part numbers Bob. Looking them up they appear to be extinct edge board connectors made by former delphi-packard. I figured it was a long shot but seeing as I already have the crimping tools, re-pinning a connector would make for a cleaner install.

Just about every wire starting from beyond the grommlet is either burned/melted, insulation cracked or missing, or just about broken at some point. Depending on the price I can source a replacement harness for, I might just cut all wires and run new. I already have just about every color to match the existing harness and can re-pin any usable connectors and make any that need replaced.

Thanks for the replies.

Send Paul, PB86SS/87LS on our forum a PM and see if he has a harness laying around. Couple other guys here have LS engined their cars and may have the harness to get rid of. BoiseSS is a recent LS swap possibility.

With proper soldiering and heat shrinking wires the harness could be repaired. I do believe most of the new pins for the plugs could be bought here.

And all those pins/terminals require a special crimpers to make correctly.
