I have a 'dent' in the dash pad of my '85 Monte Carlo SS. The dent is on the passenger side, just above the trim plate where the 'Chevrolet' script is.
The car was stolen a long time ago and the original pad was damaged (they tried to remove the dash speakers by prying them out with a screwdriver!), and to save a few bucks I had the insurance company give me the parts to install.
I did get the new pad installed, but when I stored the replacement I must have leaned it against something which compressed the foam and now I have a dent in it (about 1 in long by 1/2 in wide).
Anyone repaired such a thing?
I was thinking if I can access the back area I could drill a hole, use a pencil or something to push the vinyl out and then fill it with silicone caulk.
Thanks for any ideas; the pad is in pristine condition otherwise.

In addition to pushing from behind, I would heat the dent..very carefully with a hair dryer or heat gun..
I mean VERY CAREFULLY..too much heat and you melt the dash, too little heat and the dent wont move.
Expanding foam instead of silicone caulk would be another idea to fill the void behind the dent.

Good point re. heat gun. I would hate for the vinyl to crack!
