As the title read, looking for speedometer. Working or non-working.

Working will be better as I can just swap it out, but if not working, I'll send it out to rebuild it.

Mine is out of spec, off by anywhere between 5-10 mph. But can't take it off to send it as I wouldn't know how fast I'm going.

Let me know how much you want shipped to zip 96816.

Do you have a street near you where there is a sign that shows your speed as you approach it and flashes the speed if you are over the limit? That's how I set mine. I pulled the needle off and reseated it, then took another run at the sign until I was dead on. Took me close to 10 tries, but it did work.

Another method when testing a speedometer is downloading an app assuming you have a smart phone, measures your mph, I've done this when repairing a couple speedometers after the needle was off. You can test it throughout the mph range this way as well. Popping the needle off isn't too bad, just even pressure, I think I used a fork between the faceplate and needle base.

isn't it off by a percentage that changes with speed?i have big tires in the rear,a ford rear with 350s and a 700r4 which was different than stock.mine is off different at every speed.art car has a device that if you tell him your true speed at 55mph he will give you a little geared box that goes in line to correct it.i called him about it but he was so rude I hung up.

An '87 speedo would be an upgrade to a 115 mph speedo iirc...anyhoo I can't believe 3 years have passed since I offered one up to you and we had mis-connections due to personal matters with life and somewhere in there I got deployed to the sandbox. Up to you offer still stands I have '86 85mph speedo, come get it.

Thanks for all the input and help guys. It's been so busy lately I forgot I had this post.

Anyway, I took off my speedo and guess I tried to adjust the needle and it's been waaaaaay off since than.

Stew, I'll try call or text you soon. Hope we can meet up. Gotta show you my SS. Not Silver any more.
