I am in the process of building a strong GN motor. I was planning on finding a GN roller but I came across a decent MC SS yesterday and couldn't pass it up. My mind is going back and forth to finish my GN build and put it in the MC. I know it's been done and I'm asking anyone that has done this please give me a call as I want to discuss what you did.......
Call anytime....

Thanks Chad. 815 695 5290

Well I haven’t done it. But since g body to g body it literally should be a bolt in job. Everything from one will bolt into the other. May need a GN as a donor to save the little things purchases.

Ought to be fun. I'm going to suggest that you make sure and get at least one turbo badge and fit it in somewhere...
I'/m sure you'll have a few custom things like AC condenser piping (unless I'm mixed up and it was the Olds that had condenser inlets on the other side), but most stuff should be a bolt-in. The Monte EFI tanks on later TBI's were the same as GN tanks except for the pump. You might have a few issues on wiring up the dash (CEL, Cruise, maybe some other bits) but that will probably depend on year model more than switching from SBC to turbo Buick.

Sometimes you just need a bigger hammer...

'85 MC with budget 5.3L swap, TH350 with stock 2.14 rear end
It ain't much off the line, but it's nice on the highway

I don't know how far you are into you GN motor build. I would think that a LS swap would be easier and cheaper to do and will make more reliable power especially if you go 6.0 or 6.2 and get the whole engine/transmission combo.

He's doing it to different.
I have a TPI engine in mine because of the same thing.

Lol!!

Saying something is cheap or expensive is clearly subjective but I have to agree with Buick Runner. My LS swap was just shy of $10K and that was with my stepfather and I doing all of the work. In the end, I'm glad I did and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Some of it is just blind luck too. Some guys get lucky and find good deals, others are unlucky and are forced to pay full price.

Aside from the engine, what exactly do you have?.....wiring harness? turbo? exh manifolds....etc?

Occasionally, I'll see a complete rusty, rough, damaged turbo buick with a solid drive train. They tend to go in $3500-5000 range. This would be a good bet to avoid getting nickel and dimed to death. If you could get lucky enough to find a donor car with the same color interior....I would swap the buick dash in as well.

From what I've observed.....lack of planning and buying unnecessary parts are more to blame for the high cost of a project then not getting lucky on parts deals.
