Does anyone sell all black door/trunk lock sets? I can only find sets with black trim pieces around a silver (stainless) center part. Mike's Montes are this way as well. I'm pretty sure I remember them for sale all black years ago.

I don't think the little spring loaded key slot flap ever was black. My OEM slots are stainless metal color. You might want to darken them with a Sharpie.

As Robert said the slot in the lock is stainless, the rest is black.
The GM number for the black lock cylinder is 12398552, comes with no keys and needs to be keyed to your original key at a locksmith. That same lock was used in a zillion GM cars for more than a decade.
Standard Products for black s DL7B comes with keys.

Thanks for the part number! Do you agree that the locks in the link I posted should be all black except for the 'door' (slot) that that key enters? The only black part I see on the Mikesmontes one is the outer trim piece.

I think I'll take your recommendation and have a new GM lock keyed to my current key.

With GM parts these days it's best if you can find NOS before going to the parts guy at the dealership and getting some of the repop parts they sell now. I buy GM whenever possible and hope to get OEM quality but that doesn't happen to often anymore. You open the box and find it's China. This is especially true of Delco parts also, just reboxed Standard who now own Echlin and Wells, all made overseas. Needed a new sender for the oil pressure gauge, had an Echlin in the car, it replaced a GM, bought a Standard and Wells to compare, ALL the same part. Echlin only lasted less than 2 years and got erratic. Hope to get more than 2 years out of the Standard sender installed.

The Dorman stuff is all crap now, China. just bought a R power window switch for my Astro from Napa, it had a Napa sticker over top of the Dorman sticker. The original R switch was not my problem with the R window, it was the Dorman L switch I installed a few years ago. Disassembled the L Dorman switch and saw the poor quality of the contacts inside. Yeah China. An R&R of that switch was a waste of time. The original window and lock switches installed by GM back in the day could be made good again when taken apart, they had good brass and plastics in them, not the junk we get now from "over there".

Just read that Dorman will be raising pricing due to tariffs, junk at a higher price, yeah.
Rant over.
