My 87 monte has 2 small cracks in the dash. I am thinking about going to the local upholstery shop to see about repairing them. Has anybody else had theirs repaired and how much did it cost?

All of us have dash cracks, 35 year old plastic doesnt last forever. Work of any shop depends on their skills, materials and expertise. Hopefully they will show you photos of their past work.
Ideally the dash should be replaced with an aftermarket reproduction. A recent thread suggests it's not available yet.
I covered my cracks with a Dash Cap, not the best solution but it looks ok.

Yep, pretty much all of our cars that see the sun will develop dash cracks. Mine has two very small cracks at the corners of the dash speaker opening. Hard to see them but i know they are there.

New replacements have been "coming soon" for a long time, but you won't like the price when they are available.
There is a company that repairs them, but you won't like their price either.

Also there are repair kits available to patch and blend the repair, haven't used one of them. The biggest problem i see is repainting the repair area, it won't match the rest of the faded color of the dash. To do a good job the entire dash should be repainted. Removing the entire dash isn't a hard job, just need some patience. My son and I once removed an entire dash from an 80s El Camino in 20 minutes in the U-pull, but we weren't concerned about the condition of anything left behind. That dash was reinstalled in 4 hours in a friend's 85 SS. Hindsight says i should have kept it and resold it later for much more than the 15 bucks I paid for that cherry dash.

There is a guy in Cali that keeps popping up in the G body facebook groups that seems to do awesome work for a relatively low price.

The only problem is by the time you get it there and back its going to cost quite a bit

I'll be attempting a total reskin next year. I have a spare so no risk. Both cracked to hell. My dash is like the grand canyon

It is difficult to ship a dash, damage during shipping a problem, they are fragile. Many years ago a used G and F used parts seller shipped a dash, when it arrived at it's destination it had tire marks across the box. UPS denied the claim saying the shipper sent it that way. Hmmm.

That happened to me too, First dash was purchased from a MCSS.com forum member. He took my money and disappeared. Second dash was sent UPS and the box and contents was so damaged UPS refused to deliver it and sent it back. I gave up trying to buy a good dash.
