I'm sure the topic of frames have been on here plenty of times (sorry) but I just need to know if a 82-87 regal frame will fit under my 84 monte? Thanks!

Other may add more info. In 1985 the 200R4 trans became available, frame extensions on each side were welded to the frame for the trans crossmember to bolt to. This would be the only difference on a metric, 82 up, frame I could think of. An 84 V8 car would have a TH 350C . I can't answer the question as to whether the 350 trans would still just bolt right up to the 200R4 frame.

It will with the correct TH350 crossmember. On my 87 SS, it has both provisions for those transmissions.

Joey, that's what I thought. As a rule of thumb on the A/G bodies, 78-88, if a specific hole was in the frame or body in 1978 it was there until 88. Sometimes a few things were added, like the frame extensions in 85. The hole in the firewall where the cruise harness/ vac hoses passes through, it was originally put there for the clutch rod when some 78s had stick. There are three Xs on the interior firewall insulation, there are three dimples in the firewall that align with those Xs. One hole originally designed for the back light harness for the manual trans. Another is used for a tach when equipped.

Thanks for the help, so turns out the frame I'm getting for my 84 monte is actually from an 82 cutlass, only difference I could tell is some holes in the frame here and there that aren't even used. I should be good right? 82 cutlass frame in an 84 monte? Thanks!

Should be the exact same except where the lower motor mounts are attached to the front cross.

mmc427ss, As I just installed a Muncie into my 87SS, I know all about those holes in the firewall, and the bolt holes in the frame for the z bar frame bracket.

I'm sure there are a hole or two that I haven't found yet.

Joey, one thing that I miss is banging gears with a Muncie and CompPlus! Have had a T56 in the car for 16 years now and know at the drags the car would be much quicker in the 1/4 banging on a Muncie. My T56 broke at only 4K, keys in the 3/4, that with the 305 at the track, 15 years ago. So I respectfully don't bang gears with the T56.

I think you and I met at the 02 NMCOA in Nashville. I kinda remember you making the trek up from Memphis. The T56 and 8 1/2" install was finished a few days before that 2K mile round trip test run. Other than the wrong speedo gear it was a good test for the new drivetrain.

The Wife's Camaro SS has a TR6060, the upgraded Version of the T-56, and let me tell you, you can bang shift the snot out of it with no real problems.
