Need your experience and suggestions on which brand LED bulbs to get to replace the 194's in my cluster. Thanks in advance for your time and reply.

I just got some from ebay. They were super cheap. They work ok but they really aren't bright enough, so I'm gonna have to find some better ones and do it again. Luckily I'm only out like a buck and half. What I would do (and what I will do) is compare the lumens. Check amazon, ebay, wherever, but make sure they list the lumens in the product description. A regular 194 bulb is about 25 lumens, I think. So try to beat that, ideally beat it by a lot.

The first three hits on this search look promising, has anyone bought from them?

I haven't but I'd recommend something like these. They are 100 lumens.

Or these. Same brand, a little more money, but a newer style. 300 lumens. That might be getting too bright.

I did Sylvania zevo around a month back and they are bright. Non dimming expensive but I can see all gauges perfectly.

I did the Sylvania LEDriving's in my dash and posted a photo I took at night in this thread:

http://www.montecarloss.com/community/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1042695

It may seem like a lot of money, but I figured if I used the cheap brand and was disappointed by the illumination or life of the bulbs then I'd be kicking myself having to do the job again. So far every bulb operates like new coming up on 2 years later.

I used these for $10 and I was extremely happy with the results. End results ended up looking like bitflippers. We'll see if they last.

They appear to be the older not as capable version of what DLV555 linked above, but half the price.

If you just want to do lamps (cheaper and dimmable) use Sylvania 2825, almost twice as bright as the stock 168s. Here's a link to a write-up on doing it. Same procedure would apply if you were doing LEDs.

Job is finally done. Got the LED's suggested by DLV555.

https://www.amazon.com/Yorkim-Generation-Interior-Replacement-10/dp/B00JRE38EA

Cluster illumination had died about a year ago, had gotten a new printed circuit, shadow box, NOS fuel gauge (the needle on the original gauge would jump erratically all the time except when tank was completely full), instrument panel lens, and a good used cluster housing - all from Mike at Mike's Montes. Did not want to go back with incandescent bulbs because of longevity and heat factor. The bright white LED's reflecting off of the blue inside surface of the shadow box give it a slight bluish effect, looks good. They will dim slightly if I crank the adjustment all the way to the lowest setting, just before it clicks to shut off, but I don't think it will be too bright at night, we'll see. I cleaned all existing electrical connections with Deoxit spray contact cleaner, then applied Deoxit gold contact enhancer when completely dry. Just applied the gold enhancer to the new printed circuit contact areas. This Deoxit stuff has fixed lots of contact issues for me at home and at work - a friend of mine told me about it characterizing it as the 'best stuff since carbon tetrachloride'. Good stuff, also on Amazon.

Thanks for the info on Deoxit, never used it but have tried others. Will see if i can find it locally.

Will be interesting to see how long those LED last at a buck a piece. I wasn't willing to go LED at the very high price per bulbs x 7 and not be able to dim them, especially if they were to bright, or if I didn't like the coloration. Keep us posted about how they work out.
