I'm running the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 in 245/45-17 in the front and 255/45-17 in the back. They are summer tires. They really stick to the pavement like glue. But because they are summer tires, I have to put my Monte in winter sleep when the temp gets to about 40 degrees. I have driven on these tires for several years now and I do push them hard from time to time. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a summer performance tire.

87 SS, Harwood cowl induction hood, UMI trailing arms. Edelbrock TES Headers (Jet Hot Coated). GM Goodwrench 350, TPI & Trick Flow 56cc alum heads, SLP runners, ported plenum, Comp Cams 260AH-12 cam, Trick Flow 1.5 roller rockers, Bilsteins, TCI 2400 stall converter, Ramcharger fans, SLP ZR1 rims.

Lots of choices with 17s, just depends on what you want the tire to do, Summer only to studded snows, and how much you want to spend.
I'm liking the BFG Comp 2 tires on the 86, an "Ultra High Perf Summer" tire that seems to wear good, good traction and is also good in those very few times I drive the car in the wet. Ran an autox in the rain recently and was surprised how well they did.

Does anyone know of a RWL 17" tire?

Bridgestone Potenza RE71R 245/45/17 all the way round. The Hankook Ventus V12 is also a good less aggressive choice.
