Hey guys. Trying to finish wiring up my 87 with an LT1 swap, had a question or three. What are these connectors/wires under my hood? Both on drivers side. One set comes from hole in fire wall under brake booster, hooks to connector under dash, light green, blue w/black stripe, orange, black, blue w/ white stripe.
The other set comes from the firewall (c100?) block between brake booster and wiper assembly, dark green w/ white stripe, light blue, and 2 black (?) all going into a round connector under hood.

Any ideas? I've had 5 wires or so to hook up for a while now for the dash and gaguges and got myself nice and confused. Also, from the c100, which wires got to the starter? Wish i had the factory service book. Thanks in advance.

One set went to the distributor. The other went to,, I cant remember. I think I had resolved to eliminate both sets. I know you won't need the distributor set. I'll check on the other set and see if I can get back to ya. I don't think you'll need either one. In the other set there was an oil pressure switch I had thought about using to enable the fuel pump. Is any body else thinking about a way to turn off the fuel flow in the event of a wreck.

Thanks for the info, kinda though my post was dead. Took pictures last weekend, try to put them up at some point. All I really used from that cluster of wires were the starter wires and the gague hook ups. Lost the tach wire somewhere in the disassembly (4 year span), any idea where to locate the wire for my tach? Thats literally the last wire I need to hook up, well the vss too but i just put my cable x box last weekend. Thanks again.

The tach wire was probably a white wire that had a red connector on it. I think it also goes to a condenser that is mounted on the fire wall. I think the tach wire penetrates the fire wall by itself as to isolate it from other wires.
I used an aftermarket VSS as I needed 4k pulse / mile. I think that's what it is for the LT1 computer. I think I bought it from one of the aftermarket harness companies. It mounts in the tranny and then you put the speedometer cable on it and you hook the purple and yellow wires from the computer to it.
My project is moving slow too. I thought I wanted it more than that. I've had the car since it was new. It's going to rust into oblivion before I get to play with it. Tim

How is the swap going? One set of those wires on the driver side is for the cruise control also.

I know this is silly, but your last post to this was in 2010.
Now 7 years later you ask a question and give advice ?
I realize you are trying to help, but I think this thread is dead.
