CELEBRATING 20 YEARS!

Thinking about replacing my carpet. I did this about 12 years ago and I notice some fading and discoloration.
I have the 1986 grey color.

Yeah, the carpet I put in years ago was from Mike. Not sure if he is using the same vendor or not. Considering I don't drive my Monte all that much, I don't like the fading issue, especially on the "grey" carpet. I could see the issue with the "maroon" color.

Ask Mike who his vendor is and explain your problem. He is very helpful, and always has insght to share....

I will, the carpet was nice for a while, but has faded almost to a blue-ish color.

David - I grew up in Buffalo and know WNY well - where the heck did you get enough sunshine to fade anything in Rochester? LOL! Seriously - let us know what Mike says. I have a grey carpet, sides and upholstery from him about 5 years old and am very pleased but its garaged all the time.

We get our sun...:-)..My car is garaged all the time as well. I'm even particular not to leave it in the direct sun for long. I really don't drive much and don't understand why it's faded. Again, I know the maroon fades horribly.

My gray carpet in my 87' was from ACC and it started fading into a blue/green color where exposed years ago. Carpet was put in 2003 probably. T-top car and was parked outside a bit, non tinted windows, but almost always had t-top shades on and was stored almost half the year. Surprised me how quickly it faded or altered the color.

I bought carpet from ACC a couple or times. Once directly from them and another time from OPGI. One was brown cut pile carpet and another was black loop carpet for my 71 monte. Both came oversized and needed to w cut to fit, no big deal. Both held up but I don't think they were as good of quality as the factory carpets. The padding on the back side was minimal at best and wasn't even glued in an appropriate place. Just didn't seem to be as heavy and thick as original. Definitely needed to put additional sound proofing and heat barrier in. Both did really look good when I was done...just my experience with ACC.

You can order ACC carpet through Rockauto.com cheaper than ordering directly from ACC. I saved almost a $100 for carpet for my 96 Impala SS by ordering from Rockauto.

I got my ACC carpeting for my 84 SS from Mike's Montes. I saved well over a $100. Yes, it had to be trimmed for a perfect fit, and I had to fudge it in a few places. But as it sits in the car now, it is indistinguishable from the original factory carpeting.

If you are looking for an easy, 1 hour installation of new carpeting, then the finished product will look like a bored 10 year old kid did it.

On the other hand, if you are willing to slow down, do the job right, and take pride in your work..... the results will garner you lots of praise.
