My driver door won't close, where the door is supposed to close seems rotated, blocking the door from closing... pics here https://goo.gl/photos/tGgu4mEfzZQxM8wV9

Is it the cable that needs to be replaced?

If you hold the door handle in the up position while you rotate the door latch hook upward this should unlatch the door mech. The latching mech may be worn out, broke, but this should allow you to close the door if the latch remains in the open position after rotating the latch.

Sadly it didn't work. This mean s I'll have to replace the latch mechanism? (is this what it is called?)

That used to happen on my brother's Jeep. Did you try prying it with a screwdriver?

Yeah I did, with the handle up as well. The thing won't budge an inch, seems like it somehow rotated inward and is stuck there.

Silly to say but do you have the door lock knob pulled up?

Sounds like you tried to close the door with the closed latch in place. This shoved and bent the latch into the lock. Try tying a strong wire between the latch and the door striker on the B-pillar. Swing the door open while you hold the door handle up.
When I bought my car, my latch and striker were pretty beat up due to sagging hinges. Check your hinges for sag but lifting the end of the open door.
