So, I thought I was going to bring by sold and bought 84 MCSS back to life.

Its been sitting in my front yard, covered for 2 years since I bought it back.

I keep thinking about all the money I put into it, what its going to cost to resurrect it and how its probably NOT worth the back taxes to put it back on the road.

In the meantime, years ago I knew of another MCSS that was a project car. It had been a LOW, LOW mileage original car that had just been sitting around and rarely used.

Some 20 years ago, the original owner got to thinking it would be cool to build a show car out of this. So he tore it down to the bare frame. Sent the frame to powder coat, bought a 9" rear end, control arms, B-body spindles, front control arms, assembled it all, Bought a set of set of Gotti/Etoile 17" 3 piece wheels and Yokohama AVS tires, dropped a BBC and TH400 between the freshly powder coated rails then had someone prepping the body for paint (Mostly filling the holes for the aftermarket side molding most of the cars here had installed) When the Body and paint guy suddenly passed away.

He lost interest in the project, sold the car to a mutual friend and the car spent years in storage along with BOXES and BOXES of NOS and now long discontinued GM parts.

The mutual friend had a small automotive accessory and parts store and I knew he had the car. He always said he would get around to it. Never did apparently.

A couple of weeks ago, he put word out to a couple of my co workers the car was for sale. I met with him and went to the place the car was stored. It was exactly as described, almost like a time capsule. Other than some rust on the engine chrome everything was as the car was when put away years ago. I bought it on the spot.

Now, to get it all home and figure out what the heck to do with it.

When was the last time any of you saw OEM GM weather-stripping in GM boxes?

This is just for starters... I still have more boxes to sort through and catalog as I pick them up. The car itself is FULL of boxes and the trunk is full of parts.

The only thing I know I dont have: Brake lines, fuel lines and adel clamps to hold them to the frame.

I'm thinking I go with a Hydratech hydroboost unit for braking, and use a new stainless brake and fuel line kit for the hard lines front to back.

Congrats man! I hope you get some garage time to measure up your Christmas present. When you get some more time, post some pics of the car.

Thanks guys, we were finally able to roll it out into the sunlight yesterday for the tow truck trip home. The car was literally full of boxes from front to back, top to bottom.

I found new door panels, new front extension for the nose (damn big box), LH extension piece (no RH), AC condenser, AC accumulator, some wiring harness I didn't open, the center console front compartment (new) compartment door, center console, and just so much xxxx it was overwhelming.

I got the car home, literally emptied everything out and took pictures of it all. Consolidated all the stuff that was in half full boxes into now full boxes. Then, decided in the effort to save space it was prudent for now to hang all the loose stuff back on the car.

Tail lights, back bumper and cover, (rear spoiler not on yet) door panels

All the NOS stuff is in the spare bedroom in the house and my wife was amazed and the deal.

More pics coming.... I'm exhausted... yesterday was a fun but tiring day.

Looks like quite the haul though, nice deal. NOS stuff isn't getting any easier to find.

More from the last day... I'm beat... I found MOST of the stuff I thought I was missing. I cant find the shocks the car is supposed to have and the anti-sway bars. I guess I gotta ask the seller about that stuff.

You hoarder you!

I was looking for genuine stuff in 2003 when I did my '84 and gave up. The A&M soffseal stuff was pretty close for "aftermarket", but heck, the Original weather-stripping on this car is PERFECT. (IF I can get if off in one piece!) Roof rail pieces are out already and suffered the same fate mine did.

Some NOS parts building for a paint job that might be another 10 years down the road, who knows tongue . I bought the GM weatherstripping back in 2003 or 2004 from I think a board member here, wasn't cheap but even back then was cheaper than anyone who had NOS for sale by a fair amount so I grabbed it. I used the door seals but have a complete t-top set in boxes/packaging yet waiting for that day to come.

I guess living in Hawaii T-tops are gorgeous to drive but are a curse... they all leak so unless the car is garage kept I would never own one.

As I helped the previous owner clean out his shop I picked up a torq tech 3" exhaust (no mufflers) I had new Bilstiens in boxes in my stash and decided on the new Hotchkiss sport swaybars because of the 9" rear setup

I also discovered this car has a true and valid 8000 original miles. The car has actually been off the road since 1989.

Zero rust original Hawaii car.

Even my blue car wasn't this rust free.
