Has anyone been to the Texas Heatwave Car Show in Austin?

well it is getting hotter in texas, so we need a Monte NIGHT out cruise to get together. I was thinking maybe sometime soon, we could cruise up to bj's in temple and just have a burger/whatever and just hangout there and get to meet some of us central tx monte guys and gals. I also have my monte registered for the naturally fit car show in Austin at the convention center on the 26th of this month, if anyone is interest in showing off their monte also cost is like $35.00 it is an inside show...1/4 tank of gas only and oil drip pan required.

anyway, the cruie and hangout at bj's in temple is JUST a throught for now. maybe could talk about getting a car club started and attending some shows as a group...any info/suggestions/inputs appreciated...for info to the naturally fit car show...www.motortexas.com/events/carshows...Bill

I am down for a cruise to BJ's. Menos on Stan Schleuter loop happens every Friday night. Also don't forget about the twin peaks and pluckers cruise nights.

didn't know about pluckers, twin peaks nights...they are fridays?
seen some cars at Menos lot...but throught they were just Camaro's or vette's...will check them out.

The twin peaks and pluckers meets are on weird schedules. Like the third Thursday of the month for pluckers. Last Sunday morning was the inaugural coffee and cars meet at the coffee bean across the street from the Freddie's we met at. The twin peaks was last Saturday evening. The Texas Heatwave is more along the lines of the young crowd. Not much hotrod stuff going on out there. There are a lot of vette and camaro guys at menos. There really aren't many organized older car gathering around. I would start something but too much hassle and politics going on here,

J, thanks for the info about all the meets. I understand about starting something, I won't want to really start a car club. maybe just some cruises to different places to stay in touch with one another and keep up with new upgrades to our cars. but since I posted about just crusing up to temple sometime just to meet up and hangout, I didn't see much interest. so I agree with you about not much of our montes going on around here. well have a good and blessed day...Bill

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I figured this would be a good place to post. I tried posting in the Engine forum but for some reason my posts came up blank after typing it in twice.

What are the emissions testing laws in Texas? I currently have a stock engine, but am looking to modify and am wondering what it will be failed for. From what I could find it seemed like everything with regular plates was tested, but I recently took my 85 SS in for an inspection and the dude didn't even pop the hood. I don't know if he thought he was hooking me up or what? Then on Wikipedia article it said that emissions testing is only done in the large metro areas of Texas for cars in between 2 and 25 years old, or something along those lines. Anyone clarify for me? Thanks!

Hello guys, just wanted to let you all know there is a monthly "cruise in" in Boerne, TX at Soda Pops on main street. Here's a link to their site http://www.sodapopsboerne.com/Hot-Rod-Garage.html with information. There are always interesting and very nice cars on display however I have yet to see a 4th Gen. Monte there. I'm hoping my car will be finished before their cruise in schedule changes for fall/winter. I'll keep an eye on this thread and when she's ready I'd sure enjoy driving somewhere to meet some fellow enthusiasts.

I am looking at 2 (two) car shows coming up in Sept. if anyone is interested in attending them.

1. Sept. 13/2014 check-in from 830-1030. awards 3pm at John McClaren Chevrolet in McGregor...cost is $30.00

2. Sept. 20/2014 at Freddie's steakhouse 2602 Pecan st. Pflugerville from 530-830pm cost. is a donation for cindy who is battling lymphoma. owner of registered car gets free meal.

I will be attending these car shows, as there aren't many other car shows locally. I think it may be a good time for some of us central tx monte owners to meet up and show off our pride and joys. Hope to see some of you all there.

might be a couple of good days to see and meet other monte ss owners. I believe the Hotcc show is free, so that makes for a good reason to show off some awesome monte's from around the area.

so i might be a bit late to the game here, but I am right outside of Dallas and would like to see about a G-body car club or even some kind of meet up every once in a while.

Ditto! Just moved to Plano, myself. Make sure to check out the impromptu cruise-ins at Coit & George Bush on Friday nights (It gets big) and Kellers drive in on Saturday evenings (Good hangout). I hit both of those up when the weather is nice. Make sure to say hey if you see my white 85SS!
