Get a base line first by talking to your insurance agent about the various options available to you.

I have Larue Classics insurance on our 72 Chevelle and our 99 SS Camaro. As soon as I get my Monte up and going I will have them insure it as well.

You really do need to talk to an agent. Just so many individual factors involved that no one here can adequately assist you with which company suits your particular needs. What works for me here in NC may not be good for you in KY. All these following questions may steer you towards one company over another: What do you want to insure your car for as far as value? What type of use? (any errands or just car related, like shows, etc..) How old are you? Are you married? How many tickets? How many accidents? Credit score? Every factor is unique to each person. Each state is different too. As far as companies, pick any of the major ones advertised in Hemmings or your favorite car publication. I've never read a horror story about Hagerty, JC Taylor, American Collector's, Classic Collector's, Heacock, the list is just endless...

Does this cover state required minimums as well or only provide loss coverage? I currently have state minimum and its getting very expensive.

I just recently got mine covered through the hartford company and I use mine as a daily driver. They have a classic car insurance that you can cover it for a stated value.

As others have said, definitely check with your agent. My SS is covered with $10,000 agreed value, high liability limits, $00 deductibles on collision and comprehensive. Premium is $125 per 6 months. Main stipulation is a max of 3,000 miles per year, which is fine because I rarely do half that in a year. This is through the same State Farm agent that insures our other cars and house. Make sure you get the details on any use restrictions associated with the policy you are considering,.Good luck!

I have Hagerty on mine as well, about $400 for the year for both. Almost exactly what I paid with Progressive and that's counting having them only under comprehensive insurance for about 5-6 months a year. No brainer to switch, IIRC my agreed values are 10k and 8k. There were a few basic stipulations, having an everyday car (a certain year or newer but my agent let me having a 90' slide), I believe garaged, not sure what else. Good advice to talk to your (or find an) agent that carries one of the reputable companies.

Looks like Hagerty is the most popular. Their quote for my car was the highest $580.00 a year with a value of $20,000.00. The car has yet to be appraised so it's a rough number

I'm going with Grundy. They quoted me about $160/yr. Almolst a third of what Hagerty quoted.

I called our local Farmers agent. Their underwriter is JC Taylor. My quote is $150.00 per year with a agreed value of $15,000.00 and a 3500 mile allowance. They only require a appraisal if value is above $30,000.00. I going to sign with them on Friday

I keep my SS Monte insured just as an ordinary car through Allstate, which is dumb, because, it is as original and rust free as most, so if totaled, it would be just a 1984 Monte to them. Don't recall exactly how much a year. I also have another car,( 2001 DE Intimidator Camaro) that I have insured for 65k, and it cost me 800 a year, no restrictions, (under 4k on the clock however), but again, wifey would have to chime in with whom,,,as stated by others, there are extenuating factors.

I have stated value with Hartford. They did me pretty well when I got rear ended a few years ago, and the price was very competitive. One thing to note. On Stated Value policies, they will pay out only what the car appraises for -- up to the stated value. On Agreed Value insurance, they send you a check for the Agreed Value- no further hassles.

I did not have an appraisal on mine when it got hit, so they sent out two appraisers to value the car. Luckily, it appraised for more than I had stated. They told me that after the repairs got done, I should have it appraised again, in case I got into another accident. Having the appraisal will help assure that the Stated Value policy will be paid.

My Hagerty policy is $425 ($25 or so for the towing/flatbed service, IIRC) for both cars. My values are somewhat close to realistic, which helps the premium I think. 10k/8k.

I have Grundy for mine. Valued at $32k. Some limitations but nothing unreasonable. Cost me $165 yr.
No mileage limitations. Insured as a collector car, not a daily driver.
