anyone know off hand what changes are necessary for installing an LT1 from a 1992 Vette?

You would need the LT1, complete wiring harness and computer, a FI fuel tank with electric pump, new fuel lines, electric fans, and whatever other accessories are on the LT1 (AC, alternator, power steering pump) would need to be adapted to fit the Monte. I think the motor mounts are in the same place on the LT1 but am not positive.

1987 Choo Choo Customs El Camino SS with Monte Carlo SS TH200R4, 3.73 posi rear,'87 SS wheels, Edelbrock TES with Flowmasters, S-10 Xtreme spindles & front brakes and custom SS/GN interior w/ power seats, mirrors, antenna, concert sound, etc .... The way GM should have made it in 1987! Coming soon 383 w/ roller cam!

If you are planning on running a/c you might have to come up with a solution. If you have the vette accessories you might be better off than i was. I used b-body accessories and due to the location of the a/c pump, i had to drill new motor mount holes in the cross member almost exactly an inch back on the passenger side and the mount on that side had to be moved back. if i recall correctly, there are extra mount holes in the block or a special mount from the b-body to do this but i can't remember which. Other than that, everything listed above it needed. If your engine has provisions for a tv cable you can just use a 200r4 or 700r4 which will let you use your mechanical speedo.

I'm just finishing up this swap now, dyrt and Dave are right on. Motor mounts are the same, just use the stock mounts and clamshells. The Vette accessories and brackets are all centrally located on the block, so frame issues with the ac compressor should be no problem. I uses a b body setup and the compressor hit the frame, used a 1le ac delete pulley and gave the frame the slightest bit of love just for extra piece of mind. 92 would be an early LT1 so not too sure about the tv cable setup. Look up spudman mike's lt1 swap guide, I used it as my main reference and it's great. Good luck!

Thanks guys! the 92 vette's didn't have the 4l60e, they had a 4l60 (i'm guessing a variant of the 700r4) so i hope i'm able to use my 2004r. Brokenmonte, is the swap guide here on the site or is can i do a search for google?

There should be a link here on the site someplace if you do a search, thats where I found it (then printed it out at work!). Google probably works too if all else fails. Not mentioned earlier but you'll also need shop manuals for your Monte and the Vette to help with the wiring, which is the biggest pain in the xxxx of the swap.
Are you reworking a stock harness or getting an aftermarket one? Either way you'll need to wire gagues in your dash to lt1 sensors and computer and you'll need the books and whatever other diagrams you can pull off the web to help ya along.

I tried finding Spudman Mikes PDF. It seems to have been removed.

87ss-zz3 this was an idea for an lt1 that was available but the deal fell through so I never proceeded.

Are you still looking for an LT1 or might you go with the LS route?

Not quite sure to tell you the truth. I've been looking at pretty much everything from LS, LT, BBC, to even just rebuilding the L69.
