Were can you get a replacement for the black plastic cover that is under the console that hides the shifter bracket?

I got the part thanks. How does it go in I never had one in a monte carlo before. I took off the console cover but it has no were for it to slide into or attach? Maybe I am missing something?

you have to take the handle off. If you put the car in 1st gear (with e-brake on) you can see that there is a pin in the front of the shifter, pull the pin out with a flat head screw driver and the handle will slide right off, and you can drop the cover right on.

If you took off the cover, then you already removed the handle. The insert just slides down the shifter arm and rests on top of the shifter itself. It just lays under the cover, and moves with the shift arm.
