The hard return line that comes out of the steering box isn't good anymore. I pulled the fitting out and looked at it and it has a rubber o-ring after the fitting and a fairly complicated flare to it so I don't think I can just make a new one for it. Any ideas on where to source a piece like this or is a junkyard piece? I think the outside of the fitting was 18mm.

Most parts stores carry the hard line, it's just straight and you need to bend it. Comes with all you need. Just remember to put the fitting on the line before you bend up the like.

When I replaced mine I bought the high pressure line new at NAPA and replaced the rubber hose part of the return line. My return is just a metal elbow on the pump and the box with a rubber hose and hose clamps in between. I did buy new o-rings for the metal ends on the return hose. The high pressure line also came with new o-rings.

Get this one - built in power steering cooler, and it's only an extra $5. You can get a few rubber insulated clamps and mount it to the lower radiator support.

10.97 from Amazon, so I went ahead and ordered it. I'm running an f-body steering box so the application sounds right, but this and the other fitting mentioned above both say they are 16mm. I'm assuming that's the internal dimension then since the outside fitting size is 18mm.

Also, for anyone else looking at this thread, the other 90 degree fitting is only $4 from O'Reillys.

The f body serp setup's power steering pump uses a pressure hose that shares the same fittings although the 'bends' are a little different. I found this out a year or so ago when the pressure line on my 87 sprung a leak and I had to get it fixed asap. I had the f body serp setup in the shed and used that line. I've since ordered new lines (the pressure line and the little "U" line) from rockauto, but never bothered installing them yet.
Looking at my new line for the MCSS, it appears to have both the 16mm fitting on one end(goes in pump), and the 18mm one on the other(where it goes in the pressure switch block 'thingy').
