Plans in the works John. Been wanting to attend the Nats for years, to give support for all you guys at NMCOA do for the love of our Monte's. Sorry we were unable to attend the mini-meet in Colfax last year... life happens. Keep up the great work and see you guys in JC next June!

It will be great to see you and Pam again too! You can meet my wife now. LOL And I no longer have my '86. Saw my old #76 today, listed on e-bay. No worries, we will be in one of our Monte's. (I'm still partial to the " funny back window". no matter how hard Ken tries to cnovert me.lmao)

Information about our trip/tour to Bristol Motor Speedway.....

The NMCOA has now signed the contract. The contract and our financial deposit is in the hands of my good friends.... the USPS. I also have some of the answers to questions that have been asked by members. I will try my best to provide the info below. I'm certain that there are going to be some questions that we are not going to be able to answer until we arrive at the track.

Here goes:

How many Monte Carlos will be permitted on the track at one time?
10

What is the cost?
The minimum cost is $10.00 per person, which is for the tour only. If you want to take the laps, the minimum cost is $35.00 ($10.00 for the track tour & $25.00 for six laps) which is for one person. If you have a passenger, they pay $20.00 ($10.00 for the track tour & $10.00 for six laps in the passenger seat.)

Will there be time/opportunity for one driver to take the six laps, and then another driver use the same Monte Carlo to take six more laps?
The vehicle can go out more than once with a different driver for the additional fee. Example: Husband takes the six laps, and then the wife take six laps. This would be the cost breakdown under different scenarios:
Husband drives - wife watches - cost $45.00 (Husband: $25 for laps, $10 for tour) (Wife: $10 for tour)
AND THEN
Wife drives - husband watches - cost $25.00 (Wife: $25 for laps, tour already paid) (Husband: $0, tour already paid)

Husband drives - wife passenger - cost $55.00 (Husband: $25 for laps, $10 for tour) (Wife: $10 as passenger, $10 for tour)
AND THEN
Wife drives - husband passenger - cost $35.00 (Wife: $25 for laps, tour already paid) (Husband: $10 as passenger, tour already paid)

Can I go out on the track for another six laps?
Yes, but you pay another $25.00. This is a decision you must make before the reservation deadline. This is not a decision that can wait until we arrive at the track.

Will there be an opportunity for our members to take photos during the laps?
We can have a group or individual photos on the start finish line by our club photographer (yet to be named). I would think that others will be able to take photos, but I don't know from where.... and we probably won't know until we get there.

Are trailers permitted on the BMS property/parking lot to unload a Monte Carlo for the track laps?
Yes, you may park any trailers in the South/Lot B Parking lot.

Where will we meet at the track?
We will need to meet at the Bruton Smith Building. This is the main office building that also has the main ticket office and Speedway World Souvenir Store.

Before or after the laps, will the members get to walk around on the track?
They stated that they can make that available before or after the laps. It will be based upon how everything is going with our timeline for the day. Maybe we can make this a part of our "health and fitness" program. We can all take a 1/2 mile group walk.... but, no bumping or trading paint!

How fast will we be going for the laps?
I'm told that it will be at about 60 m.p.h. Of course, that is in our Monte Carlos.... we will probably be going a bit slower when we walk!

What all is included in our track tour?
The tour will not take us to the dragstrip. BMS will be having a Fun Ford event going on that weekend. So they will be running at the track. (Sorry folks, you won't be able to go over with your Monte and whip the pants off of a Ford!) The Speedway World Souvenir Store, Bruton Smith's suite, and the track infield will be included. You will be able to see a portion of the Dragway from suite level. You will be able to ask questions etc. while in the suite. (Please don't ask them if you can take your Monte over and whip the pants off of a Ford!)

Actually, the NMCOA had to get special permission to put our Chevrolets on the track at Bristol. Since we are a "all Chevy" organization, and since BMS is a "Ford" track, special permission had to be granted. We got the permission due to the history of the Monte Carlo at BMS.

Under normal circumstances, about how long does the entire experience last?
The length of the tour will be based upon how many people are in the group and how long it takes to get up the elevator to suite level. They anticipate 45 minutes to an hour for the tour. The track laps length of time will be determined by how many vehicles are participating and how many times each driver/vehicle would like to take laps. I would also anticipate at least an hour here. I would plan on being here until at least 12:30 to be on the safe side.

We will begin at the Bruton Smith Building at 9:30 a.m. sharp. You will come to the souvenir store and sign waivers for the tour and track laps, you will be able to shop if you like. The tour will be next. After signing the waivers and shopping, I think they will have you take your cars to the infield, the track tour bus will pick you up and take you back up to the suite for your tour. We will then go back to the infield for the remainder of the tour and track laps.

In ALL scenarios, you must make the reservations and payments in full, in advance. Right now, the deadline is June 1st.

What you bringing MC87SS? Not cleaning anything this year.

Bringing my "new" Monte just to go on the track and enjoying the show. It'll be in Park N Party. Don't want to put a thousand miles on my "nice" car especially with aging tires.

For 2013 its getting painted again, but this time all the trim is coming off, polishing every piece, engine bay getting detailed carb rebuild, new belts/hoses/wires, 02 sensor, EGR, new LT1 cam, TES headers w/true duals, new 87 SS ECM and prom, 200-4r w/OD plate in dash, 3.42 gears w/posi, F41 sway bars/jounce bars, Monroe shocks, new brakes, lighted rear view mirror, grill lights, new wheels/tires. Um pretty much no stone left unturned.

Wanting to go Gold Class in 2013 with a "fully loaded" '85 Sport Coupe. I'll definitely need Leo's help then. It has every available option from the factory. Very few original-type Sport Coupe's have ever been in the Gold Class. I doubt I'll ever get an award with this car since the mileage is getting higher, but I will try my best smile.
