Does anybody make a decent light socket anymore? I replaced the running lights and sockets about 2 yrs ago. I have had nothing but trouble with these darn things ever since. I have tried a couple of different makers and these things are just cheap Chinese junk! Just replaced the pass side again tonight. It got to where even messing with the wires wouldnt make it work. Sometimes its the running light, sometimes the side marker, this time it wouldnt blink! So I ripped it out and changed it again. After putting the new socket in, side marker would blink, but not front. Inspecting it I noticed that one of the bottom connections was sunken in. Of course when I pushed the wire into it the connection moved back into place. I can see that this one is going to be no better than the last. At least it is fixed, for now. I figured someone on here might know of a place where I can get some quality product. Is this something that I might find at the dealer?

You might try upgrading to LEDs.

SBC powered 1987 Regal with TES headers, ZZ4 intake, ZZ4 PROM chip, mini starter, THM2004R, 2500 stall converter, 2040 cam, CCC system, and 3.73 posi rear.

Where would I find an led upgrade for the front turn signal/running light?

HERE:

http://www.acdelcotechconnect.com/pi/wiring-connectors/gm/pigtails/3-cavity/

Scroll thru the various pages to find what you need! They have everything you could need for GM cars & Trucks.

AC Delco is GM replacements.

Solder and shrinkwrap is the best attachment method for replacing ANY socket or pigtail. IMHO!

I think you will find just about all the aftermarket electrical parts produced these days are junk, even the Delco parts are not OEM quality.

Possibly your best solution is a trip to the U-Pull yards with a pair of wire cutters in your pocket, that's what I do. Locally we have a few U-Pulls, over the course of a few dozen trips a large box is filled with wire, loom, connectors, anything GM that may need down the project road. Cash for clunkers and the very high scrap steel prices have thinned out the donor cars to about nothing now. Donors are any GM car from the 80's, RWD, and some FWD cars. Take a picture of the needed connectors, put the camera in your pocket when you go to the yards, use it for a reference pic.

Was at Harry's in Quakertown a few months ago, only late model cars there, 10 years old or so.

Shorty's in King of Prussia was the best place to find 80's G, F, B's up until cash for clunkers a few years ago. It's just loaded for FWD GMs now, along with the imports and Taurus. Not what it was when I first started going there almost 10 years ago.
