What have you guys used to brighten aluminum? I would like to brighten up the serpentine brackets and alternator housing.

The alternator and serp brackets are not a smooth surface though so I don't think a polish would work.

Autosol metal polish is great as well. The big brands like Mothers and NEVR-DULL are garbage compared to it.

As mentioned - the brackets aren't super smooth so you'd probably want to use compounds to get those polished up nicely. Some people might not like this much black, but I painted almost everything satin black for a factory type look that blends in a bit more. I needed a new compressor after it was installed and left it alone.

I want to brighten the aluminum that has darkened over time. I think it will be difficult to apply a wax to the rough cast aluminum.

If you car to disassemble I would suggest painting them with a high heat aluminum color. Brand name escapes now but if your interested I'll check a can out when I get home. My aluminum intake is painted with it(5 years ago) and it looks like a new aluminum intake that never yellows. My headers and exhause is also painted with it. Gas, oil, and grease clean right off. Just a suggestion to a guy I know in Mass.

I think that is what I'm going to do with my intake manifold. when it was brand new, I put high temp clear on it, which is now yellow... mad

I just need to figure out if I can get it cleaned and prepped enough for paint without removing it from the engine.

I believe I used Krylon Brand. I'll get a part number for you. I know not everyone carries this color so I ordered a case of it once. I swear by it, has never left me disappointed.
