how is the quality of this piece?

Another member replied to my question in another thread about how to mount the nose. I figured I would start a new thread over here.

I know this sounds ridiculous, but I would like to cut grill holes, headlight, and turn signal holes (no side markers) get it painted and install it on a protouring street car.

Ultimately I am trying to create a tilt front end, and also I want the weight off the nose.

Would this front end hold up to the rigors of daily driving?

Has anyone modified it to accept stock-ish headlights?

i would not use it on a a street car.one smak in your front end is shot.you might need to add more support to it if you plan to cut for lights.

I would also pass on that style of nose for street use. They make a hard plastic replacement nose as well as a stock type nose. Those noses are meant for race cars, like a strret stock.

I remember lauren engineering made a fiberglass replacement nose for a while, and they even made a slightly different "stage 2" style fiberglass replacement style nose for the monte carlo SS, but its not listed on the website anymore. I prefer a fiberglass nose to the factory rubber one.

Also, does anyone care to comment on the quality of the finish, and the overall shape of the VFN nose?

I don't know about the quality of the nose, but the hoods I have seen from VFN seemed to be good quality. I would expect that nose to be the same. If you want to try putting the center grill section from a stock nose in the fiberglass nose, let me know. I have an extra nose that has a tear in it. I'll cut the center out and ship it to you. You just pay shipping and it's yours.

nope, but you can make a "birdcage" like in the old Vettes and that would be the internal frame for the hinges
