Thats the way to do it. I shoulda built mine LOONNGG ago, and all this probly wouldnt be happening. Instead trusted low buck builders who apparently cant build a 400

The gears work great. With my tune, the gears, and the 17" rims I still average about 22 mpg on the highway if I stay out of it. Heres the killer between mine and yours though, mine has a very long VERY LONG first gear. I get up to 58 mph in first gear, at 5900 rpms. How much would you want for the setup for the six speed, I may have to start saving up now. I may have to sell the 4l80e though laugh

Ive got the transmission with 90k on it.
Shifter
Hyraulics
bellhousing
resurfaced flywheel
and a set of third gen pedals

How does 1200 sound? When did you plan on doing the swap? Im probably going up to Maine in April and could deliver the set up. Or if you wanted it sooner my wife goes to Raleigh all the time, im sure she could meet you some where.

I drove my buddies 01 camaro with a six speed last night. It was very nice and fun!

When you go up to maine let me know. I am going up there in december to visit family lol. I'll see what I can work out though, to get it, I may have to talk to the wifey a little bit, but should be able to swing it. If earlier, I will let you know, as I drive down to columbia alot to see the other side of my family laugh Now to find somebody that needs a 4l80e tranny laugh Probably have to PM me after xmas to remind me about all this, but just hit me up when the time comes closer so I can make sure I've got the money

Thanks

Otis

Body bushings are in, easy as pie. Gotta love a southern car. BTW my SS had the two "GNX" #5 body bushings in place. They look factory original to me. I was reading that most gbodies didnt have these? If you look at my last picture i have them side by side in the center. No bolts or washers.

Also, blue, thanks for the tip about the body bushings. I think they are a worth while upgrade but i still have the issue with the cross member hitting the body. Doesnt seem quite as bad though.

Amen.... It's too bad some people don't realize it early on. Then again, sometimes, it just isn't possible....

Good to see you are back at your MCSS.

You're a brave man for tackling those body bushings.

Maybe it's because my car has lived up North for awhile now, but I'm in no rush to get to mine... eek

nice coming along nicely - and I can understand the thing about life is too short to not get things done - I am 37 with a 4 year old daughter I take care of full time so I try to get her to help me with the Monte or other stuff LOL

Can I ask where you got the Body bushings and how much - have been fixing alot of stuff on my monte and am thinking those will need to be changed soon as well along with the front end (Ball Joints) and brakes and the list goes on and on LOL

Atta-boy Rob! Coming along nicely. Keep up the great work/progress.

BTW... you weren't a dumb kid. You bought a car and beat on it. We all did. The good thing is you held on to it. My first car, well... I probably just drank a beer out of what was left. LOL Can't wait to see her in person again!

So how do you like the ride of the PolyUrethane?
Just a little more noticeable or a LOT more noticeable: road noise, vibration, etc ?
Does it add any sense of it being more solid?
Any pros/cons?

Finished up the drum brake to ls1 disc brake conversion on my 8.5" 10 bolt.

Here are the calipers and brackets after a quick bead blasting.

Mounted

Almost ready to go, just need control arm bushings installed.

4th gen Camaro/firebird v6 or v8. Pretty cheap conversion. Hardest part is lining up the holes for the backing plates.
