We tried to get a few more to go,but it ended up just Tim & Lynda & Valeria & I yesterday.We left Kentville,picked Tim & Lynda up in Waterville and and had our first stop at Timmy's in Bridgetown.Then we drove to Digby for our first gas stop at the Irving.From Weymouth,we took Hwy # 340,its an inland back road that runs through Mink Ranching country,I travelled this road quite a bit during my days of driving the feed truck.Then on to Yarmouth for a picnic lunch and another gas stop.We found a picnic table along the Yarmouth waterfront.Then we went out through the Pubnico's and old Hwy #3 along the shore.Stopped at a couple of scenic places along the way,took a few pictures and stretched our legs.We also had our dog Pepper with us and she was a real good girl all day long,and she even got to have a run at Summerville Beach.Then we stopped at Bridgewater at Waves Seafood Resturant for supper,Valeria & I had the bowl of seafood chowder & half a lobster sandwich.We were gone for 14 hours alltogether,and probably put close to 400 miles on the Monte.The day started out a bit cool & overcast,but it warmed up by Yarmouth and the sun came out.Heres some pics;

Sounds like fun. What are Tim and Linda driving? that front end just doesn't look terribly familiar to me.
Pepper's a big dog for the back of the Monte. She looks quite content back there, though. congrats on a day well spent.

Tim & Lynda drive a 1969 Pontiac Beaumont,powered by a 350 300 hp sbc crate motor with a Tremec 5 speed.The Beaumont is the Canadian Pontiac equal to the Chevelle,but they were Chevy powered.There were differences in the trim,grilles,rear bumpers,interior,but the frames and some body parts are identical to the Chevelle's.

More Canadian car trivia. Imagine telling people you own an Acadian Canso Invader. Just a Chevy Nova in disguise. Maybe our Canadian members would like to identify other unique Canadian transformations of American cars?

Wow that was a great cruise! Sometimes the small crowds are better, little more one on one getting to know each other. I was tellin' my girl this is good crusining weather. Rained saturday and went to the drag races sunday. After these pics will definately be going out this weekend. Gas is high up there huh? 4 liters/gallon 1.09$/liter DOH! Feel free to correct me if wrong, been a few years.

That's a great run. I haven't been down that way in a long time but I do remember its beautiful scenery. How thirsty was the big block during the trip? We're paying .98 and change for regular right now.

We drove up to Cape Breton yesterday,Valeria had a cabin booked just outside Sydney,but conviently enough,the owner double booked our cabin.Turns out that Bell Aliant has a big crew of guys installing fibre optic cable,so he filled the cabins up,then tried to play dumb when I called him.But he owns another property closer to Sydney,the Beacon Motel,so he gave us a room free for the night,and I beat him down on the price for the remaining 3 nights.Its nothing fancy,just a cheap Flea Bag Motel,but its got a kitchenette & free wireless and a garden hose to wash the Monte with,and boy did it need a wash,this was the dirtiest its ever been !!! Heres a few pics;

And heres our spoiled dog,Pepper,on her own double bed LOL;

And heres an engine pic;

just looking at the pics I can smell the sweet salt air and it makes me homesick. As a kid my dad would drive along the coast of Cape Breton ( I have pics of me as a kid @ Pt Michaud ) all the way around thru the little towns and houses that looked like they were carved right out of the rock until we made it to the wood islands ferry ! I hope to do the drive again but I don't think it will be with the Monte !

You sure can smell the salt air around here.We came up on Hwy # 4 yesterday,made good time until we ran into construction.We wont be going home that way.There were 3 big luxury liners in the harbour today,there was lots of tourists out & about spending money.Gonna plan a trip to Baddeck & Mabou for tomorrow.
