Apparently I've transitioned out of the elbow grease portion of my build. The only heavy lifting I'm doing these days is pulling the Visa card out of my wallet.

Keep an eye out for updates soon, lots of shiny new parts on the way.

Hmmmm, a Locker I see in my crystal ball, oh, 18" wheels for fat Rivals, nah, still on the wish list. I can see the number 13, hmmm, would be on my wish list if I did long road course runs.

No, the only thing I adjust between autocross and street driving setups really is the rear rebound, taking it mostly out for street driving. It's super easy to just reach under the car and back the knob all the way out.

With my new rear springs though I'm not running as much rear rebound on the track so I haven't change them at all since the last time I raced it. This is the advantage of a soft spring, big bar setup up front, not only is it a beast on the track, it also rides pretty nice on the street as well.

Thanks Guy... This is what Eaton calls a "Soft Locker" and it ships with a 78# internal spring. The bag from Ron Sutton has his special 40# springs to replace the 78# springs with. This is supposed to make the locker very nice to drive on the street with as well as work perfect for autocross and road race situations.

We will see... laugh I had to do something, what I was trying before was not working...

I was confused, old people do that, was looking at the baggie and thinking why does that look like plastic tubing that had Dexron in it. It wasn't until I pulled up a parts breakdown for a Soft Lock Locker that I realized they were springs.

So out comes the pumpkin again. At least the axle bearing fiasco is over with.

Any hints on what else is on the table to do?

Hi Lance,
By using a softer spring will that reduce "chatter" when going around a corner ??
Mine still has a stock limited slip clutch in it but when its cold and going around a corner you would swear the rear end was coming out LOL

That's what it is supposed to do Guy, I'll report back how it works.

The clutch posi I put in last summer was the same way when first installed, it chattered like crazy and would even spin the inside rear tire on slow parking lot turn arounds. It didn't take long for that to go away though and really not the much longer for it to quit transferring power to the wheel with grip. It's damn near like an open diff again now.

Lance I wonder if that was because of the AUTO X you do ???
My stock clutch LSD has been the Monte for a long time, probably 9 years now.
Before I installed it I soaked the clutch discs in a mix of gear oil and the Ford limited slip additive for a couple of days.
This was on the advice of the fellow I bought it from.
I have drained the gear oil a few times over the years and filled with fresh oil and the Ford additive.
Still chatters like a bugger...

Barney's lifting of the inside rear tire on hard corners is VERY hard on Diffs...I believe that is the cause of the failures.

Limited slip additive will help your cause a bunch. Put 8 oz in and then go out to a parking lot and do slow figure 8s until it goes away.

Yes that must be why, mine doesn't get driven like that hence the longevity.

It get the additive every tine I change the oil but I never tried the figure 8's.

I think you'll find it a lot like a fresh posi that wont fade away with time with the lite springs from Ron ,should make it a nice unit for you
