OK guys, I have never really posted anything on here before but I need help with this problem because its driving me crazy!! MY 87 SS makes this unbearable shaking when I hit about 55MPH. It doesn't do it all the time, but it does do it most of the time.

I have changed the entire front end including: Tie rod ends, all ball joints, idler arm, pitman arm, gearbox, and steering mid shaft, new rotors, new calipers, and new brake pads. I have tried two sets of tires, all which were balanced, and I pulled out the axles and the seemed straight and u joints were good. If any one can offer any advice THANK YOU IN ADVANCED

Shocks, bent wheel, driveshaft still out of balance, pinion bearing, axles seem straight or they were spun true looking for any runout? U joint strapped in correctly or maybe off center. Tailshaft bushing allowing driveshaft to move excessively.

Is the vibration coming from the front or rear?

I forgot to mention that i changed the shocks, i tried two sets of balanced tires and it done the same thing, the axles didn't have any wear marks and the axle bearings were in good shape. Does anyone else thing that if it was the drive shaft it would be doing it ALL the time, and not just most of the time? or maybe I'm just crazy. Also, how would i check the pinion bearing? Do i check it from the inside of the differential?

@85t5 it dosn't feel like the front it feels like the....middle i guess

Thanks again guys

Sounds crazy, but is your exhaust tight. Is it possible its too close to a control arm or floor pan and the vibration is felt through the seat? This is possible, I've been there. Maybe check that as well. Also check the trans mount.

Logged on and searched vibration. Wow, im not the only one. My car gets the shakes at 60-70 MPH @ 2500 RPM. Door panels seem to have some sort of harmonic vibration going on when I rest my arm on them. It's most annoying when the changes in the ash tray starts making noise. I havent tried anything yet but within the last 10,000 miles or so I have rebuilt the front end, rear axle, shocks seem to be ok. In my situation I am wondering if I should disconnect my drive shaft and rotate 180 degrees and reconnect. Either that or replace body mounts.
It could also be my exhaust, I have it fairly well mounted to the frame of the car.

I don't know where my vibration is coming from, but it's most noticable in the dash and door panels. The lock knob on my drivers side door vibrates in it's hole.

One thing I think I should try is driving the car in 3rd gear at 2500 RPM, then try 60-70MPH in 3rd gear and see if the vibration is present.
