Might try this

Or this:

Also, check out this post. FBIRD-88 has a lot of informative posts regarding heads and porting. He seems to be an authority over on Thridgen.org.

quick question about cams and vortec heads. i checked out that lunati voodoo 638-60103 cam, the RPM Range is 1800-6200. Is 1800 where i set my idle but anything lower than that will kill the engine? Nver understood it really.

85SS 350v8, 200-4r, bodywork and H4 upgrade coming soon

Simply put.. The RPM range is more of the peak operating range of the cam. Meaning it does it's best work between 1800-6200 rpm. That's a very nice cam btw.

.. It should idle around 600-700 RPM OK... prollly shift about 6400-6500...

.. 1800 is prolly about the lowest RPM it will pull down to and cruise OK at in overdrive gear without bucking/lugging...
